PITTSBURGH --- The Steelers will have to wear their white jerseys in Super Bowl XLIII, too.

As the pre-determined home team, the Arizona Cardinals were given the option of choosing first, and they opted with the cardinal red jerseys they typically wear at home.

The Steelers usually wear black jerseys at home and white on the road.

The Steelers have appeared in six Super Bowls, and wore black jerseys in four of those games. They are 3-1 in black jerseys.

However, they are 2-0 in their whites, including 2005 when they beat the Seattle Seahawks in Detroit.

Guess who’s back on the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated?

Troy Polamalu of the AFC Champion Steelers’ defense.

That's the second straight week the Steelers have been on a regional S.I. cover.

Last week, Santonio Holmes and Nate Washington were featured on the cover in a picture taken as the two wide receivers celebrated Holmes' touchdown in a playoff win over San Diego.

This week, Polamalu was shown returning an interception for a touchdown in the AFC title win over Baltimore.

Coach Mike Tomlin believes wide receiver Hines Hines will play in the Super Bowl despite a sprained knee he sustained in the AFC Championship Game. But Tomlin said Ward has a lot of healing to do.

“In his mind, he is playing,” Tomlin said. “So chances are he is. It is not going to be comfortable between now and game day in terms of making that happen. But it’s not about comfort, particularly for Hines.

"I saw him this morning. He was down there (in the training room), aggressively getting after his rehabiliation and putting himself in position to help this football team. We are definitely not going to count him out. We'll save a seat on the bus for 86."

In other injury news, left tackle Max Starks has a strained knee and right guard Darnell Stapleton a sprained ankle. Both were hurt in the AFC title win over Baltimore although they played the entire game.

Both may be limited this week at practice but are expected to play in Super Bowl XLIII.
