Excellent read. I know we're all bias, but how can you not think of the Rooneys as the best owners in all of professional sports.

Let me be the judge. We are the greatest franchise and maybe the team of the decade if we can close out these next two seasons with SB victories.

Almost 40 years of consistently putting a quality team on the field, (in the 80s they made it to the playoffs 4 times & one conference champion game) 5 Super Bowl Championships & are on the cusp of hopefully winning #6, the Rooneys are the most revered family in the sport... They got my vote.

Yankee's are a disgrace to sports. Outspending other teams by 100's of millions of dollars and still can't win. Who can respect that? How good would the Yankee's have been over the last 15 years if there was a salary cap in baseball? With no salary cap in baseball, I can't consider it a real sport. It's not a level playing field, and therefor they shouldn't even be in the conversation of best sport franchises ever.

Definitely. Probably the most influential in the NFL.

Great article. I liked this:
PSON2: Looking for a signature moment from the AFC title game? How about this: LaMarr Woodley, the next in a seemingly endless line of great Steeltown linebackers, blood streaming down his left biceps, Supermanning himself over a crouched blocker to get to Joe Flacco by any means necessary. He didn't get a sack, but Woodley produced something far more valuable: a freaked-out look on a rookie quarterback's face that said "Holy shnikes, these guys are f-in crazy, man." I swear, as he realized what he was up against, you could see Flacco's passer rating drop by 75 points.

How about Woodley BACKING into McGahee on a 4th & 1 play? That was one of the greatest things I've ever seen in a football game. Woodley is like Levon Kirkland (top 5 favorite player) on the outside... Insane!

I'll hold off on "Best Franchise" talk until Pittsburgh wins #6.

i would say that this franchise is one of the best ever.. but when we get number 6 first, it makes the chances a whole lot better

Very nice read and thanks for sharing. The only way to cement this defense as one of the best ever is by raising the Super Bowl XLIII trophy on 2/1/09 evening.
