View Full Version : Steelersfever Draft Day Party?

This is a blatant rip-off from SteelerNation, but there is no patent on having a draft day party.

Is anyone interested? Basically it's just a tailgate party in Heinz Field parking lot for the 1st day (Saturday, probably April 22 this year) of the draft. We did it at another board and had 40-50 people, some from as far away as Texas and Colorado, show up. Hotels are fairly cheap, and you can double or triple up. Ambridge has gone, as well as Stlrs4life.

It's the best way to actually meet people from the board, and draft day is pretty cool, as well. They open up Heinz Field, there are a ton of players there signing autographs, you can run around on the field and kick FG's and stuff...

Works for me...the thing is, for people who live close, it's an easy way to meet up with everybody else and make an event of something that's otherwise relatively mundane...but for people from out of town, it's a chance to see the stadium, meet players, meet fellow board members, and do it all on the cheap since plane tickets are inexpensive, and hotels are dirt cheap that time of year.

I think I spent $50 for 2 nights at the Omni staying with 3 other guys the first year, and we had 2 plus you, Dom, last year. I spent about $300 at the bars, but that's my cross to bear, and an unrelated matter:smile:

I also picked up 2 guys at the airport to save them cab fare, and somebody took them back to the airport Sunday.

I believe we had a guy from Oklahoma fly in last year for draft day, and that's about the same distance away...as a matter of fact, he flew in for the last 2 draft day's, and i picked him up from the airport last year...

We need to get Mike and co. to get the work on the SF tshirts! So we can find each other!

No need to trouble him with that...these are the kinds of things that take care of themselves after we all meet up. I would suggest, though, that we designate a point man, volunteer basis only, someone in the 'Burgh, to organize the tailgate. Money must also be donated, and NOT from Dom! Jesus, this guy has literally spent thousands of his own dollars over the years...

I'll pledge $50 right now. The guys who live close need to kick in a little to the pot so those who come from out of town don't have to spend anything...We just need a few peple to follow suit, and this thing can happen...

Pledge $10 of tailgate stuff, then. This is how it starts...If everybody kicks in a little, this thing can get big and actually happen. Starting THIS early is actually the way to get it done...

Let me know who, and I will send my money. This could turn out to be a great thing. And I could see it growing year after year.

How come I have a feeling that you are waiting for me to volunteer? LOL!

I can do it, but, like I said. We'll have to do them side by side, or awfully close. I can always deep fry 2 turkeys!
