Phoenix Mayor Blows Nose In 'Terrible Towel' Then Apologizes
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 updated: 9:10 am EST January 28, 2009

PHOENIX -- The mayor of Phoenix blew his nose into a Terrible Towel and then threw it to the ground at a send-off rally for the Cardinals in Phoenix on Monday.

On Tuesday night, he apologized for his actions.

Mayor Phil Gordon said, "At no time did anyone intend, in any way, to offend the Steelers organization and their many fans, supporters and traditions."

At the same send-off rally on Monday, the Cardinals' mascot used the Terrible Towel to wipe his furry armpits before the mayor sneezed and stomped on it.

What a toolbag. Of course you meant to offend the Steelers team and organization by acting like the Terrible Towel is a piece of a trash.

He's just trying to save his ass.

Don't ya just love it....he does something so disrespectful, and then in his "apology" lies about why he did it.:shake01: . "At no time did anyone intend, in any way...:blah::blah::blah:"....of course they INTENDED to offend...that is why they did what they did( other wise..why bother in the first place). He would have been better off not even apologizing than to offer that insincere drivel.

GO STEELERS!!! :tt03::tt03::tt03::tt03::tt03::tt03:

I'm sorry, but of all the fines the NFL dishes out, how can this not deserve a fine? Players can do stupid dances and get penalized, yet a symbol of our team gets stomped out, nose blown in it, armpits wiped, etc. and nothing happens to them? To me this is the upmost disrespect besides spitting in a person on the teams face.

Justification is received on the field. There is no need for this frivolous lawsuits or petty fines.

The penalty for disrespect of the towel happens on the field - come Sunday, justice will be served and cardinal players will have to pay for the stupidity of a mascot and a mayor.

REALLY?!?! Because I'm pretty sure doing what he did is exactly what someone would do in order to OFFEND someone... What a douche!

Once he was told about the curse and it's ramifications to the team, he back pedaled as fast as possible but the damage has been done.

How the hell did he think we would take this? The Terrible Towel is the flag of Steeler Nation. When he wiped his nose and threw it to the ground, did he think we would laugh and say good one? And like a typical poletician, thinks an apology will do. Its too late, your actions have spoke loud.

And BTW, I like this "Big Red" a lot better then their mascot.

I see several "positives" in all of this:

A. Somebody in Arizona purchased a TT...so Myron's Charity will get the money

B. The Terrible Towel and Myron will rain down The Curse upon all who desecrate the Sacredness of The Towel, so he all but guaranteed us a Win

C. When the Douchebag is crying from the pounding the redbirds take, the Terrible Towel will come to his rescue so that he can cry into it (the same TT that was used to wipe the birdbrain's armpit

It is what it is... the game will be played on Sunday February 1st, 2009 in Tampa, Fla.
I love the Steelers and what the towel stands for, but everyone is gonna get into the groove of wanting their teams to win and sometimes you do things that just make you look stupid in the end. Let the Steelers take care of this on the field and then we will see who is wiping what with what...
