View Full Version : Besides XLIII, what was your favorite moment this season?

The 2008 Steelers are World Champions. With the hardest schedule in the league. And now today, they will be celebrating. They have earned it in every sense of the word. So, what your personal favorite moments from this great season? It can be from a win or loss.

My top 5 greatest moments:

1) Deshea's pick 6 to beat the Cowgirls and further prove that Tony Romo is a choke artist.

2) Whooping the Patsies 33-10 at Gilette. I hate the Patriots so much I was foaming at the mouth throughout the game. Next to XLIII, the most satisfying win this season.

3) Winning in Jacksonville. At the time it meant a lot because they beat us twice in 2007. Pittsburgh outplayed them throughout the game and deserved to win. With 2/3rd's of of starting D-Line out. They stopped Taylor and Jones Drew. Too bad the Jags went on to suck.

4) Ben driving the Steelers 92 yards to beat Baltimore in their house.

5) The Steelers D putting on a clinic in Washington.

Honorable mention: Troy Polamalu's sick interception in Chargers Game 1.

Since Edman covered all the best ones, another one of mine was Hines going over 1,000 yards for the season and over 800 catches for his career in the season finale against the Browns.

....I'd have to put Harrison's 100yd Pick-6... definatly in the top 3. I've watched and played alot of football and speaking situation and time wise that might have been the single best play I've ever seen :tt:

Deshea's Pick-6 against Dallas. Had the Cowboys beat us, my life would have been a living hell here in Texas.

Two things:

# Troy's interception return TD agains Baltimore in the AFC Conference Final. The momentum was swinging Baltimore's way before that play and if they would have scored, it could have been all over.

# In the first game against the Ravens, the two scores that happened within a few minutes, one on Santonio's TD catch and the other when Woodley took the ball into the endzone after Flacco fumbled it and the other one. Pittsburgh scored twice within a few seconds in a game in which they were trailing and where nothing seemed to work that well. I thought that was huge, I was really down, but after Santonio's catch I thought they had a chance and after Harrison's strip and Woodley's TD I was euphoric.

Troy's INT in the AFCCG was my fav (except XLIII). Since I was at that game, it trumps everything else, also since it iced the trip to Tampa.

Favorite TV moment was Deshea beating Homo and the Cowgirls. Also Santo's punt return TD during the San Diego playoff game. That ending of the reg. season SD game was pretty cool too.

Troy's Pick six for the AFC Championship for sure. You covered the rest!

Along with all of the above, a great moment for me was when I went up to Jacksonville for the Sunday Nighter in October. When Ward caught that awesome game winning td pass in the corner of the end zone right in front of our seats, he handed the ball to the dude sitting next to us (another Steeler fan of course) and also gave me a high five... Just a really cool moment to have a small part in the game winning celebration!

The Titan Terrible Towel Insult

How many of us saw that and said "Oh Yeah...thanks, now we are going to win it all"

HA HA! Fat arse dumb RB they got down there basically turned the tide for us. 31-0 beat down of the browns the following week, into a playoff run, into the SB and a 6th Trophy...thanks Titans...see you next season too and we'll give you are thanks...right across the Mouth.

i would say my favorite moment would be the fact that i sat there, soaked it in, and realized...we won. WE WON. that's all the matters. sure, we had some ups and downs and we ALL rode it out. but i finally looked back on the season and realized, after all of the sh*t we went through...we pulled off the big one and we are blazing trails in history. we all got to witness it and be a part of it and it was great. i'm sure we all felt the same feeling when Rooney held up that 6th trophy and we can put it to rest...we are the best. =)

Troy's pick six against the Ravens was probably my favorite but I'd have to say that Deshea's pick six against Dallas was sooo sweet. We are in Dallas and were listening to the game on the car radio while driving. When that happened I opened the window and waved the Terrible Towel screaming like a maniac. Needless to say we got told we were #1 that night a few times...LOL. Priceless.

I dont have a favorite moment of the sason. I enjoyed it all and cant wait to se what happens next year. On second thougt the victory over Dallas was really awesome. And the Browns game at the end of the season was really nice for me too. Having just lost my job that week it was really nice just getting away from everything goin on for those 3 hours and enjoy a typical Browns beatdown. And the last play vs San Deigo in November. Troy breaking that throwback up, Man that was sweet.

Deshea's Int return for a TD against Dallas, and the 92 yard drive against Balt to win game. Those were the two that really made me believe this season was going to be special. It was also a lot of fun watching Belecik melt down on the sidelines in the pats win, and how quickly the NE stadium was exited when the Steelers started running away with it

Ben going 92 yards to beat the Ravens - the #2 defense - in Baltimore. Being in Baltimore, with SO much at stake, that drive was epic...I didn't think he could top it this season.

Well, he proved me wrong. I'm glad he did.

7) Titans loss
8) Not needing a FG to beat the Chargers the 2nd time
9) Pats loss...again...

Mine was Jeff Reed actually dying his hair blonde lol !! Seriously mine was Troy,s INT against the Ratbirds in the AFCCG which i think gave us that boost for the SB,Beating the Pats was great revenge and much improved considering the awful game at their house last season.

Jus the sheer hardwork by the team all season was a great highlight,With a few ups n downs against Philly,Tenn Tits etc we never gave up and plugged away like champions and it paid off.

I forget which game it was but James Harrison made a tackle.....through the blocker to take down a running back. So basically he tackled through a defender, I can't remember which game it was but what fun to watch.
