Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward said he might need surgery after playing injured in Super Bowl 43.

Ward, who sprained his right knee in the AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "We'll have to see and re-evaluate it because I don't know if I hurt it (more.)"

Ward sat out several Steelers practices in preparation for the Super Bowl. His first full practice came on Thursday -- three days before the game -- when he worked with the starting offense.

Get well soon, Hines! I'm just glad it'll happen now, and not during the season.

I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery in time for the start of the season! Ward is one of the brightest faces of the Steelers!

With any luck, he can just take the offseason to rest it, rehab it slow and maybe not need surgery. :hope:

Damn Hines is one tough son of a bitch (no reference toward his mother intended). He will heal W/WO surgery. Expect to see hines at full speed for game 1 next sesaon.

the mcl is a tough one because it may or may not heal on its own, unlike the acl where you pretty much have to have surgery if you tear it. i read that its about an 80% tear of the mcl but im no orthopaedic surgeon so i don't know what'll happen..

all i know is that here's to hopin for a quick and strong recovery for our psycho! we need ya for next season :tt02:

I hope this doesn't linger and he heals during the offseason. If he's unable to play part of 2009 & Nate Washington leaves via FA, then that would leave Holmes & Sweed and a bag of balls...

Either way I wish Ward a speedy recovery. Get healthy Ward because we need you 100% for the 2009 season.

i say go, get the surgery. Take your time, we will see you in about October of next year.

Play it safe.

I am THOROUGHLY convinced that at this point in our team's journey, all we need is a playoff berth... and we are dangerous.

I do agree Preacher. I would like to see Ward just get the surgery and rehab.

He should take it easy in the offseason and re-evaluate when it comes time
