Peter Russell uses the audience a lot too. I think they're actors but I always wonder.

It's entirely possible. The guys he picked look familiar, especially "The Lion" and "Barney Fife". The Sprinkler guy looks almost exactly like one of my uncles...so I doubt he was an actor...that side of my family are all a bunch of movie buffs...and they'd be keen to point out who he looked like if they knew.

My brother said that they may be other (amateur) comedians. He's been "randomly" picked by a guy in one of the clubs he's worked at as an amateur.
