Has there been any talk of franchising Marvel Smith? I think it would be a good move, if he is as healthy as he claims, give him an extension after this year. If he has another injury filled season release him.

sign mcfadden, sign starks, if marvel will sign for around 2M, go for it, keep nate, maybe essex, sign key fox, everyone else is replaceable or i forgot about them

There is no way possible they franchise Marvel Smith.

:jawdrop: he's most likely willing to accept far, far, less.

a total package of $5 mil/year based on playing time incentives sounds fair to me. otherwise...

I hope we don't make this move use it on someone else.

if you think about it though, it would be a HUGE risk vs. reward. clearly, he is a better all-around LT than starks. if we franchised him, we'd have to eat that $ for one year, but if marvel is showing signs of coming back to life, we could work with him throughout the year on getting him a new contract. if it appears that he's washed up and done, then we'd eat that $ for one year, and let him walk at the end of next year, knowing we didn't waste even more money trying to lock him up to a 4-5 year deal.

hopefully that makes sense...lol
