anyone look interesting? perhaps shaun cody? dewayne robertson, recently released by the broncos, might not be that bad at a DT, rather than a NT. that's if his price is right. he is a little on the short-side at 6' 1".

the steelers definitely need some youth along the D-line. they can't keep putting it off.

The ones I like the best are....

DT 2 Rocky Bernard UFA 7 years 6-3/290 Texas A&M Seattle ~ Good pass rushing skills, controls the line of scrimmage. Age 29

DT 4 Kedric Golston RFA 3 years 6-4/292 Georgia Washington ~Solid run defender

even tho tank had his issues... i wouldn't mind if the steelers went after him,,, his was the back up nt in dallas and did make plays...

still relatively young.. and he shouldn't be asking for too much money

If Gabe Watson could drop 20lbs then he might be more effective as a backup NT. He needs some jenny craig.

I like Shaun Cody he could be a decent pickup and I don't think he would be asking for a whole lot of money

I'd say that 90% of that list is rubbish for the 3-4. What few are left would almost all have to move to the DE spot (or bulk up a bit more to play the NT.)

True, it looks like the best FA guy left that is a 5-technique is Olshansky. Chris Canty got tagged by the Cowboys.

Well, I liked what I saw of Shaun Cody in college, but haven't heard a hell of a lot about him since, so maybe that means we're better off without him...

I think Cody could be a good De in a 3-4. He has the size and lets be honest he could use the change of scenery. When was the last guy to succeed in Detroit?

I say get Haynesworth. Robertson and Cody suck, Tank is a problem waiting to happen. Haynesworth is the best option here

except for the fact that haynesworth will be asking for double digit salary evry yr...
he wants 2 be the highest paid dt/player

Agreed. Other than Haynesworth (Steelers can't afford him) and possibly Cody, I wouldn't sniff around any of the others.

You know we don't sign top line free agents, nor should we.

I know. Although higher free agents costs more than the Rooneys want to spend but talent wise one would be wise to go after the best players rather than no-names along for the ride. What a crappy year for 3-4 defensive lineman. Everyone on that lists either sucks, is just as old as the current DL (thus defeating the purpose of signing another DL in the 1st place), or is too expensive and too much of a big name player to draw interest from the Rooneys (Albert Haynesworth). At this point the Steelers HAVE TO ADD YOUTH THROUGH THE DRAFT
