Fred Taylor could find a home in the AFC East.

Fred Taylor has visits lined up with the Patriots and the Bills.

The Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots have emerged as the top contenders to land the 33-year-old running back's services. Shalise Manza Young of the Providence Journal reports Taylor is expected to visit both teams soon.

The Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday released Taylor after 11 seasons with them. He rushed for over 1,000 yards seven times. His 11,271 career yards rank 16th on the NFL's all-time list. Taylor has said he wanted to play at least until he passed Jim Brown, who is 1,041 yards ahead of him.

Taylor ran for 556 yards and one touchdown last year, missing three games with a thumb injury. Taylor has a reputation for being injury-prone, but he played in 100 of Jacksonville's last 112 games.

The Bills have only two legitimate running backs on their roster. One of them is facing a possible suspension, and the other's contract is up.

Marshawn Lynch has been charged with three misdemeanors for possession of a concealed, loaded, unregistered gun. The Bills are trying to sign Fred Jackson to a multiyear contract, but he's an exclusive-rights player, meaning he can't sign with any other team.

Bills coach Dick Jauron was Jacksonville's defensive coordinator in 1998, Taylor's rookie year.

The Patriots have several serviceable running backs, with Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk and BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

But coach Bill Belichick appeared dissatisfied with the same crew last year and brought in LaMont Jordan before the start of 2008. Jordan is a free agent and isn't expected to re-sign with New England.

I bet he ends up in New England, he knows that is his best place to have his best chance at winning a super bowl I'm sure.

I don't know about that. With the Cheatriots* ' crappy O-Line, he might have his career permanently ended there (like Tommy Boy's season was ended last year, and for pretty much the same reason).
