Another one leaving?

The Indianapolis Colts were unable to hammer out a contract extension with center Jeff Saturday, who now plans to enter free agency on Friday

They were no dynasty, but very competitive.

Great player ... but he was injured much of last year. I fear he might be entering Marvel Smith territory. Besides, a QB and a center have to build a chemistry together, and I think we need to find Ben the guy who thighs he is going to put his hands between (..... umm so to speak :wink02: ) for the next ten years or so through the draft . (I still remember Bradshaw during his HOF induction speech pining to "put his hands between Mike Webster's legs one more time" ..... that was hilarious). Until then, Hartwig will do.

Peyton loses his coach, his WR and his C? - he won't be happy.

I think the Colts' Gm can expect a call from Archie Manning any day now.:chuckle:

Even with those people, was he really ever happy?

You think Peyton wasn't happy? What makes you say that? (just curious). He never came across to me as someone who wasn't satisfied with how the Colts ran things.

Saturday is in his 10th season and the Colts drafted his replacement Mike Pollack last season. Pollack played guard for a season and will probably now take over at center this year.

Just an example of great succession planning to replace an aging veteran with diminishing skills on the offensive line.

We have Hartwig, Stapleon, Legursky on the roster at center so really dont need him. I hope he goes to an afc north team so Hamtpon can beat him up twice a season.

He'd look great in the B&G for vet minimum. Had to be said. :chuckle:

Jeff Saturday will not take the veteran minimum. Book it. So I don't see him in black and gold (tho' that would be nice, IMO).

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the Colts utilize an almost 100% zone blocking scheme?

How good is this guy at power drive blocking? Is he big and strong enough, or more of a finesse guy?

maybe the raiders will throw a crazy amount of cash at him like they will with chris k... then they were actually have 2 decent lineman
