ESPN Insider reporting Buckner may retire following season
<Dec. 29> For the second year in the row, Panthers DT Brentson Buckner is pondering retirement, according to the Charlotte Observer. Following the regular-season finale in 2004, Buckner was leaning toward ending his playing career but changed his mind a month later.
Buckner will take his time to make a decision following this season. One of his goals is to play 15 years, but the 12-year veteran knows his body might have other plans.
"Whenever this season ends, hopefully it won't end until February, I won't do anything until March," Buckner said. "Hopefully, when March comes around, I start back working out and start feeling that fire again and we go from there."
