Jaguars | M. Jones allegedly violates probation
Mon, 09 Mar 2009 17:00:29 -0700

4029tv.com reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Matt Jones is being held in the Washington County Jail for allegedly violating his probation. Jones was called in for a random drug test Feb. 27 as part of his treatment for being caught with cocaine. The treatment center received the results late last week and he tested positive for alcohol. Jones admitted to a judge that he drank the day before the test when he was playing golf with some of his friends. The judge set his bond at $150,000. If he does make bond, he will have to go to treatment for six weeks.

Some guys don't care. A couple of weeks ago there was a guy at the club having a beer before he went to see his probation officer. Jones should get the Pac-man treatment by Goodell. He has his chance and blew it. I wonder if J-peezy has an opinion on this:coffee:

I'm not Jones's biggest fan right now...but this is a fallacious statement, IMO. The last time I checked, MJ didn't put a bouncer in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. As far as I know, the only person MJ has really hurt is himself. :(

I wonder if he'd have turned out differently if he'd have been taken by the Steelers? Or was he always a thug?

The World will never know...

Fair enough .... Tommy Urbanski spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair is a true tragedy that I hope eats away at "pacman's" soul (assumin he even has one). However, I not sure that was the only reason that led Goodell to suspend "Pacman." The repetitive nature of his behavor (how many times did he go to the nudie bar after he was told not to?) was a major factor in the severity of his punishment.

So, the analogy was making between the Joneses was the repeating of offending bahavior when it should be known you are likely to face consequenses for your actions.

No, he didn't do something that bad.

However he did know alcohol was not allowed per his probation and he consumed it anyhow. IMHO, he got off really easy on the cocaine charge. If he wasn't a former Arkansas football star, he would have gotten jail time instead of probation. He needs to be suspended without pay for the 2009 NFL season. If you can't follow the rules of your probation, you really don't deserve to play in the NFL.

Dude, having alcohol violate your probation is pretty weak.

Having said that, this was a pretty stupid move on his part.

Del Rio is a doofus.

Garrard is over 30 and they still have no WR's. Time to rebuild in Jaggyland.

Maybe they're trying to tank badly enough to finally get the team moved to L.A. :noidea:

Matt Jones busted cutting up coke in his car.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones was arrested early Thursday on a felony drug charge after officers found him in a parked car, cutting up what was suspected to be cocaine.

A police report says officers approached the car and found Jones inside, using a credit card to chop up a white substance. Police say an officer drew his handgun after Jones did not immediately show his hands.

Police say they found a jar with possible marijuana residue inside the car and a plastic bag of what was likely cocaine. Officers say Jones admitted he had cocaine.
