THe NFL is moving the Time again...now it's 4:00 P.M. EST on Saturday. Last year the NFL moved it to 3:00 P.M., from the original Noon time that was in place for years.

DRAFT NUDGES CLOSER TO PRIME TIME
Posted by Mike Florio on March 9, 2009, 9:20 a.m.

Last year, the league tinkered with the centerpiece of the offseason experience — the draft.

Moving it from a 12:00 p.m. EDT start to 3:00 p.m. EDT and reducing the time that teams have to make up their minds in the first round from fifteen minutes to ten (and in round two from ten minutes to seven), the goal was to expand the television audience and generally to make the thing more television-friendly.

This year, the draft will start another hour later, at 4:00 p.m. EDT. (A reader noticed this somewhere, and NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed it for us.)

The draft will continue to involve two rounds on Saturday and the other five on Sunday.

So it'll be 8 o'clock before we find out our first pick.....and 3 more hours for #2?
Bummer.

Perfect.... I look forward to the draft. It's bad enough to miss work on Sunday during the season, at least I can get a full work day in draft Saturday before the Steelers are on the clock.....lol

Actually we have 55 mins in each hour and the remainng 5 mins is known as "beer-o-oclock". 24 hours in a day and 24 beer in a case up here... coincidence .....I think not.

:drink:

Well at least our pick will be in prome time Sat night anyhow...

I watched the whole first day last year, but with it starting at 4 that's not going to happen. I'll keep an eye on the pics online and tune in to see pick #32. That's all I'm really interested in anyway.

there was talk of moving the 1st round to friday night primetime, followed by 2-3 saturday and 4-7 sunday.

i like the idea, wonder why they changed their mind?

i think it's nice they are trying to make it start later so ppl can actually have some rest and ppl can watch it... but on the filp-side is that, by the end of the 2nd rd it will be like 12-1 in the morning...

There is no WAY I can attend the draft day party now...I could barely stay sober enough with the NOON start to hold out for the Steelers first pick. I'd be passed out in the parking lot before the #1 pick is even made with this late start time.
