Can't say I'm overly shocked. How much money will he be after? More than we'll pay, I'm sure.

Sadly, he'd probably still be better and cheaper than Starks. And he might even last longer, since we're apparently never going to get a long-term deal done with ol' Max and we can't keep franchising him forever.

Anybody interested??

Maybe move Starks to RT, Colon to RG and Orlando to LT for a couple years for Hills or draft picks to develop?

I would love to have him. Say he gets healthy and he is an All-Pro.

Heard this on the radio tonight and was thinking he might be a good addition to the Steelers, but again the age and injury concerns are significant.

He's listed at 6-7, 325 pounds - BIG guy. As a 12-year vet, he'd come cheap(er). Probably worth a visit by the Steelers.

But...he'd look good in the black and gold. :chuckle:

I agree with Jazz, including the same reservations about age and injuries.

So..........everybody here hacks Marvel Smith and wants to kick him out the door, but suddenly thinks Orlando Pace is the answer.

No Thanks. I am praying to the football gods that William Beatty falls to us at #32, but I'm gonna need help with that one.

Pace missed too many games and had serious contract issues involving holdouts. He was one a great tackle. But he is definitely not anywhere near what he once was. I don't think he would settle for a minimum contract. Before we get so caught up, lets see what the line looks like after most of the year together and then have them go through OTA's and training camp.

No. He's not a fit here. Besides, even at his age...he's still a LT. Someone's going to pay him something the Steelers don't have the cap room to do.

I guess the reason I brought him up while at the same time I was not in favor of bringing Marvel back was because Orlando started 14 games last year, while Marvel started what...8 the last 2 years. To me that means one man's injuries have healed while the other has not. 2 years-10M, the same we couldn't offer BMac? But then again we did have the #1 pass defense and the #31 pass protection against the sack as we all heard LOTS about during the SB pregame.

If we cut Starks, we'd have the cap room to sign any player in the league, to say nothing of any lineman in the league.

Pace seems to really not be, what he used to be.
One-year deal would be more like it.
