With all of their starters under contract, the Pittsburgh Steelers began the process of locking up key backups by reaching a two-year agreement with linebacker Andre Frazier.

Frazier, according to a source, agreed to a two-year, $1.375 million contract that included a $125,000 signing bonus. He becomes the first backup to re-sign. Earlier, the Steelers retained starting guard Chris Kemoeatu and tackle Max Starks, who signed his franchise tag.

The 26-year-old Frazier, an undrafted linebacker signed by the Steelers in 2005, is entering his sixth NFL season. He spent his rookie season with the Steelers, but was cut in 2006. He spent two seasons in Cincinnati, but when the Bengals let him go in 2007, the Steelers signed him back for the past two seasons.

I was hoping that Bruce Davis would make Frazier expendible, but I guess that isnt gonna happen unless something unfolds in camp.

He filled in for Harrison as OLB when he was out didn't he?....it's a good move.

Davis is still a project.

Nice move FO. It's signings like this that keeps our roster filled with quality backups.

I love how this team goes after what works, rather than the Haynsworth's of the world.

$125,000 bonus is small enough that he can be cut in camp I think.

Donovan Woods has been looking good on ST. Maybe ready to step into the backup roles on the depth chart.

Here's the key phrase -

We're sitting pretty - let the fun begin.

I still would like a viable #3 Receiver, I'm not sure that Sweed is an upgrade in only his second season. Guess they are putting all their eggs in that basket when it comes to the #3.

Just worried about Ward some Holmes getting nicked up too...I mean, who's 4? 5?

Frazier was a good special teamer, but he also filled in nicely for Harrison several times, especially down the stretch.

As has been said, not exciting, but a good move nonetheless.

I'm hoping Woods or Patrick Bailey can earn a backup spot on the D as well.

Yeah, I like Woods and Bailey, but am not sure we can keep both as backup ILB's for special teams.

well, I couldn't care less about this.

You better be excited....after this flurry of activity it'll be quiet till June.

Oh, come on. We haven't had any bumbling mishaps or run-ins with the law. Every team is required to have at least one every offseason, and so far we've got nothing except for the Jeff Reed towel-dispenser incident, which barely counts.

I'm trying to decide whether the odds are better that Sweed gets busted with pot, or Hampton is hospitalized with beef poisoning after eating 50 cheeseburgers in a row. Or maybe Starks shoots himself in the foot with a nail gun.

Speaking of which, I wonder if Casey would consider competing in the Nathan's hot dog eating contest after he retires? He could probably put that skinny Kobayashi chap to shame.

Holmes got his slap on the wrist from the traffic court bust. I'd like to think we're in the clear.

Wear a helmet Ben - that's all I''ve got to say.

He needs to be wearing an Escalade that comes with a driver.

Good signing--Frazier is a quality backup/ST guy, and he isn't exactly breaking the bank.

2 weeks into free agency. 2 indictments for Fat Albert. Another quality move by the vaunted Redskins organization. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3974042
