I'm gonna do this after every day's games, in this topic, because I don't want to make too many topics. I will however make a new one the next week. Anyways, here we go. WHAT is it with Washington trying to hold onto a lead? They score 17 quick early points, and then sit on it, and don't score again the rest of the game. They have done this all season, and next week whe nthey travel to Seattle, they if they do get a lead won't be able to afford to sit on it. You have to score points, you cannot play conservative when you have a lead. POUND POUND POUND, until the 4th quarter, and with 3 minutes left, you have a nice lead, you are sure of a win. Washington is very lucky to escape this one, Chris Simms and Bucs rallied, but could not come back.. Sheppard's drop in the endzone is gonna go down as the game changer. Had he caught that, we most likely have OT. You cannot gather 122 yards of offense and expect to win every week. This must change, or Washington will not survive Seattle.

Game 2, The first half in Foxboro, Jacksonville had terrific coverage on the New England recievers, and like I stated in another topic, that is the reason Jacksonville had so much pressure, that and the fact that Their front 4 is a strong group of guys. Kudos to the front 4 of Jacksonville. 2nd half, New England either made an adjustment, or something happened to the JAX secondary. Brady threw nearly 200 yards in the 2nd half after just throwing around 50 in the first half. I was angry at Ben Watson before he made that big TD play, because he couldn't hang onto the ball. Down on the 1st or second drive, when he dropped the ball at the 7, and Vinatieri punted to the 3. Then he fumbled, and we almost lost the ball, luckily Andre Davis was there, and of course David Givens made it 14-3. The 2nd half adjustment by New England was terrific. You know you did something wrong, when you score 7 points in the first half, and are in tough, and then in the 2nd half you score 21 points, and exploit the opposition. Good luck to Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, New York, and Carolina tommorrow. Can't wait to see Chicago (Hopefully) fall next week to Carolina or NYG. No, that is not a guarantee loss for Chicago, I just hope they lose. thats my Saturday rant for Wildcard weekend, Goodnight!

Statboy: your brady numbers a bit tweaked. he had 201 yards total....

patriots played decent against a bad team...ill give credit where credit is due, so ill give them 2 kudo points.

just so ya know ST33ler, the Patriots rushed 28 times for 118 yards. 4.2 avg
sounds like a good game for the Bus, so whats the problem?
a QB rating for Brady of 116.7

me thinks you just dont like it cuz its the Patriots. If Ben and Ben had those numbers and the Steelers won 28-3 you'd be jellin'

Kevin Faulk has the majority of those yards im sure... He broke two big 15+ yard runs.

I was surprised too... I don't know what it is with Corey Dillon, whether he's injured, or soemthing is wrong with him, if he can't carry the load, I don't want him on the team. Not to be disrespectful, thats my opinion

that rating wouldnt be nearly high if he didnt have 3 td passes. i believe in the first half he was 7/17 for 70 yards 1 TD. thats not that good. that TE gave him that td.

as for the rushing, faulk had a few good runs but was nothing special. dillon had an avg, of 2.3, 2.4, 2.7 and 5 something avg yards per carry by quarter. i think the patriots were just better conditioned seeing the numbers by half/quarter.

i wrote my statement as the game was going on, didnt add the extra bs that comes on at the end of games.

No, the rating wouldn't have been as high, I did figuring, and it would've been a 91.7 with 1 TD. with 2 TD it would've been 104.0

kevin faulk allows brady to open up the offense... when he's not in there they dont move the ball nearly as well.. with or without corey dillon.

The ability that Brady has to check down to his rb's and te's is second to none IMO this guy drives me crazy because just when you think you have him down he always makes the plays. Congrats to Pats for another win. Hope to see them alittle later in the season!

Hey guys, who freakin' cares!?! The Pats won. Congrats to the chowds. Don't care what the numbers say, Brady is a stud. Why get pass happy in the first half, anyway. The Pats played with a lead and still extended it. Somebody a heckuva lot smarter than me once said, "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics." The only stat that matters is the scoreboard.

HERE WE GO STEELERS!!! 24-17.

yeah, other than the TD passes the rating wouldnt be so high. silly, me.
You know, if you take Mannings 49 TD passes away from his 2004 statistics, he really had an ordinary year.

All I`m sure of is Wash. is 1-0 but I think they are about done. !21 total offense, won`t beat to many teams.
I thought the Pats would win easily. I mentioned yesterday that Jax were over rated. And I thought it was a bad move to play Leftwhich, he deserves he starting gig back. But he didn`t look ready. Pats 1-0

Well, this explains why everyone wanted to play the Jags in the playoffs...worst 12-4 playoff team in history. And I'm not taking anything away from the Pats on their win, they clearly exposed the Jags for what they were.

Congrats Brady. Jax shouldnt have even been in that game. I still do not know why they pulled Garrard from the start. Not that I think it would have won them the game but I dont think Leftwich should have started.

definitely a fraud. i told bolTfan a few weeks ago it was a shame for jags to make it in when kc and the chargers were sitting at home watching. but then again better to have the steelers and jaggoffs in the playoffs than the chiefs and chargers. ill take it. still a shame, but is even the best florida team gonna win in january up north in mass.? too bad for them they have their homefield advantage down south in september.

I agree, but if one of them make it, you guys don't. Why did they get such an easy schedule this year? I think Indy could've went undefeated on it maybe. We didn't see them against Seattle, because Sorgi etc. was in. Then of coruse they beat New England/Cincy. Whether it would've been the same result I don't know.

checking down to a rb in the flats isnt a talent. i can do what brady does, look deep pass short. rink-a-dink offense....

by the way, Mr Facts, did you know Brady led the NFL this year in completed passes over 20 yards?
"dink and dunk" in 2001 maybe. Not in the last 3 years.

those were some dink and dunk bombs to Branch in last years AFCC Game.

the way the patriots run the screen, those can easily go for 20+. and they seem to runt hem a whole lot. and for last night for instance, that TE gave him a 20+, that should have been stopped for 7.

and for madden...madden is an accurate game, so when i created myself i had to be honest with my talents and could only give myself 99's. lolz

Alrighty! Wildcard weekend is officially over, yesterday's Rant is at the top of the topic. Todays rant.

The Giants looked terrible. Eli Manning seemed like he didn't know what he was doing out there, and neither did the Giant defense. Repeatedly, Carolina converted 3rd downs, and ran the ball with decent success. If this team can continue this punishing game they brought today, they will be travelling to Seattle, or hosting Washington in 2 weeks time. There wasn't much to talk about in this game, so thats it.

First things first, to clear up 2 plays. The Pass Interference call on the guy covering Randle El when he dropped the ball in the endzone WAS correct, by Rule 4A in Pass interference, Contact by a defender who is not playing the ball and such contact restricts the receiver’s opportunity to make the catch The defender never looked back at the ball once, and then he stuck his hand in there before the ball arrived. Obviously a penalty if you know the rules. Secondly, the Chad Johnson call was correct as well. He caught the ball, had 1 foot, and then 2 feet down, but he lost the ball as soon as he came into contact with a defender, and did not get a 3rd foot down, otherwise it would've been complete. I believe Jon Kitna's play today has upgrading his worthiness as a free agent come the offseason if he chooses to go that way. Sure he struggled in the 2nd half, but credit to Pittsburgh's defense for forcing Cincinnati to adjust, and clearly they did not. In my mind the Gamechanger came when Cincy had a 3rd and 15, with 2:30 left in the 3rd, and Kitna fumbled the ball and recovered it himself, terrific coverage by Pittsburgh's secondary. Larson ended up having a poor punt, and Pittsburgh had 50 yards to travel. WHAT A CALL! The Randle El direct snap, and lateral to Ben, as he passed to Wilson for a TD PERFECT EXECUTION! The play ended the hopes of Cincinnati, because as CBS showed, Ohalete and others were upset at each after that play, and their confidence destructed. Congratulations to New England, Washington, Pittsburgh, and Carolina.

Good luck to the remaining 6 teams.

Look for a new topic next Saturday night following New England and Denver. And then again Sunday night, following Carolina and Chicago. Good Evening.
