Folks... It's put up or shut up time for our nation. If you're fed up with the way things are being run then step up and make yourself heard.

http://www.teapartyday.com

On the day you pay your taxes, Wednesday, April 15, join others across the country and in your hometown who will be participating in TEA party rallies in front of their city halls. The TEA party rally will begin at 12 noon. See this video - the momentum is growing!

Are you fed up with a Congress and a president who:

* vote for a $500 billion tax bill without even reading it?
* are spending trillions of borrowed dollars, leaving a debt our great-grandchildren will be paying?
* consistently give special interest groups billions of dollars in earmarks to help get themselves re-elected?
* want to take your wealth and redistribute it to others?
* punish those who practice responsible financial behavior and reward those who do not?
* admit to using the financial hurt of millions as an opportunity to push their political agenda?
* run up trillions of dollars of debt and then sell that debt to countries such as China?
* want government controlled health care?
* want to take away the right to vote with a secret ballot in union elections?
* refuse to stop the flow of millions of illegal immigrants into our country?
* appoint a defender of child pornography to the Number 2 position in the Justice Department?
* want to force doctors and other medical workers to perform abortions against their will?
* want to impose a carbon tax on your electricity, gas and home heating fuels?
* want to reduce your tax deductibility for charitable gifts?
* take money from your family budget to pay for their federal budget?

If so, participate in the TEA party rally, the Taxed Enough Already (TEA) party.

Bring your cell phone and call Congress and the president while attending the TEA party rally (Representative and Senators, 202-224-3121; President, 202-456-1414). Tell Every American about this effort by forwarding this invitation to your friends. Together we can make a difference.

I hate these symbolic ceremonies. Why don't you all refuse to pay the percentage of your taxes that are going towards the bailouts. If enough people partake then you'll overwhelm the IRS auditing system.

Or.. yeah, I guess littering might work too... :noidea:

Why do you hate symbolic ceremonies?

I mean don't all the Patriots fans get together and have teabagging parties when New England plays? :noidea:

Sweet, there is one in my hometown!

I'll be there, Now all I need to do is come up with a cool sign...

"Your Mortgage is Not my Problem"

"Thanks for the 13 Dollars a Pay Check"

"I drink Coffee because I can't afford Obama's Tea!"

Come on...I didn't vote for Nobama but that's silly. He didn't exactly inherit a debt-free federal government.

I wonder where these tea partiers were from January 2003-January 2007 (when the GOP had the White House and both houses of Congress), or when Bush was cheerleading the Wall Street bailouts?

revefsreleets
03-23-2009, 01:04 PM
A) Obama BLASTED Bush for his deficits.
B) Obama is now proposing that we triple them.
C) Debt at that level cannot be sustained

Saying "But the GOP did_____" is not a viable defense. Obama ran on the campaign promise to balance the budget, not triple the debt. What Bush and Congress DID is now irrelevant simply because Obama said he'd fix it and he's not going to. In fact, he's not only NOT going to fix it, he's going to make it much, much worse.

Obama's proposed budget for the next fiscal year has a $1.88 TRILLION deficit!!

I'm not going merely to protest that, but ALL of the government spending in the last year or so. The bailout, the stimulus bill, the Fed pumping another TRILLION $$$$ into the economy, etc....

I blasted the bailout when it happened. I blasted the stimulus "spending pork" bill too.

I want fiscal responsibility by the government.

I agree with you and revefsreleets....Bush's fiscal irresponsibility doesn't excuse Obama's. I'm just saying this protest comes across as partisan hackery because there was no such protest against the GOP.

It would be a waste of time for me anyway because my Representative and both my Senators opposed all of this nonsense. And I can safely say the national leaders (Obama, Pelosi, Reid) don't care what I think.

If Bush and a Republican controlled Congress had passed a bill of that magnitude without ever even reading it, there wouldn't have just been a protest. It would have been a full on revolution.

But this last measure, the purging of the toxic assets, IS a necessity. It's the only real necessity. This is a MUST. They did this backwards though. This should have been the first measure, the one that sneaked through, then the public should have been outraged over the POS stimulus and spending bills.

Now people are pissed at the wrong thing...

Dino 6 Rings
03-23-2009, 04:56 PM
Well we should have protested the Initial TARP bill but the "campaign" actually got in the way and people wouldn't accurately report what was in the TARP, like the fact there was ZERO oversite in its initial wording, hence the reason the banks didn't buy up the Toxic Assests the way the original 350Billion dollars was supposed to do. Or at least we were told would do. The housing market didn't get stablized, then came the "Stimulus" bill, totally seperate from the TARP, for another 800 Billion Dollars, then the new Budget, which is a totally NEW 1 Trillion Dollars.

Are you kididng me already?

then add on the second half of the Tarp for 350 Billion dollars...

and then the new proposals for the Environment, to tax Gas mileage or raise taxes on Energy, wtf are we supposed to do?

Dino 6 Rings
03-23-2009, 05:00 PM
The key is, these aren't all the Same spending bill, these are seperate spending bills, seperate costs, that keep adding up together to over 3 trillion dollars in new spending...that's Federal Spending, which is really Tax Payers Dollars. They are paying for this spending by Raising taxes on everyone (Cigarette Tax wasn't on RICH people) They are borrowing on Future Tax Earnings which is where the "Generation Theft Act" came in. Its insane. It needs to be slowed down. Not just more spending on more spending.

revefsreleets
03-23-2009, 06:54 PM
The future tax earnings are based on us coming out of this recession very soon, which we won't be. It's like buying a really expensive house because you're just SURE that you are going to get a huge pay raise at work in a couple years. In effect, the government is doing the exact same thing all these nincompoops who bought houses they couldn't afford did...

It's a clusterf**k to be sure...

PisnNapalm
03-23-2009, 06:55 PM
The government is essentially using a credit card to make payments on other credit cards. No debt actually gets paid, it just goes up and up and up.

$300 billion to purchase Treasury bonds??? WTF? It's purchasing it's own IOU's!

That is absolute bullshit. Make sure you carry a copy of the Constitution with you and highlight the part about...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Don't send a tea-bag to your Senator, believe it or not, it can be reported, and you can have police show up at your door. A letter will do fine.

Security screenings. They'll end up knowing its not a real threat, but yeah, security will pick it up.

Kind of like putting a massive honking (male replacement item) in your carry-on bag, sure they'll know your real intention for the thing...but not after some investigation. :D
