I just read on the Post Gazette that the NFL adopted 4 new rules for next season. Low and behold, one is the Hines Ward Rule which makes it illegal for blind side blocks if they come from the helmet, forearm or shoulder and lands to the head or neck area. They used Wards block on Keith Rivers as the focus. The other rules adopted are there is no more bunching for onside kicks which means the kicking team must have 4 players lined up on each side of the kicker with 3 lined up outside each inbounds line. The next is there is no more than 2 players in a wedge on a kickoff and any hits to a defenseless receiver cannot be made by a defenders helmet, forearm or shoulder to the receivers head. I cannot confirm this one, but Ive heard that there is also a new rule called "The Brady Rule". This rule is supposed to prevent defensive players from tackling the quarterback while the defender is on the ground. They have to get back to their feet before they can hit the qb.
This league is fastly becoming a no hitting league. Unbelievable!!!!
