Trades:

1.32 to NE for 2.15 and 3.25 NE has 12 picks so should be ok with getting higher pick.

2.32 and 3.32 to CLE for 2.18 brownies have only 5 picks so should be motivated

4.32 and 5.32 to NO for 4.16 and 7.13 NO only has 4 picks so should be motivated.

The thinking with the trades is that we can get 2 players we want in the middle of round 2. At the end of round 2 a lot of the players we're looking at might be gone. Basically we could be looking at any 2 of these guys: Moala, Gilbert at DE, Wood at C, Meredith at OT, one of the top guards etc.. An argument could be made for not tradinback up with Cleveland to keep 4 picks in the first thee rounds to address OL, DL, CB and WR.

Picks:

2.15 OT Jamon Meredith (assuming Beatty is gone here)
2.17 C/OG Eric Wood
3.25 CB Coye Francis
4.17 DE Alex McGee
5.33 WR Johny Knox
6.32 SS / ILB/DE/OT Bpa
7.13 SS / ILB/DE/OT Bpa
7.17 SS / ILB/DE/OT Bpa
7.32 Frank Summers (RB/FB)

I totally agree. I don't expect the Steelers to wheel and deal like this. I was just taking a look at what's theoretically possible as far as trade values. I do think the first trade with NE or something similar would be a good idea to get better value.

An alternate would be our 1,4 for 2,3 of buffalo or SF. I think our pick at 32 is where the top flight RB prospects will start to become scarce so we might see a team motivated to trade.

If you have 4 picks in rounds 2,3 you could get someone good for WR, OL, DL, and CB.

I think your scenarios are totally realistic but few teams wheel and deal like that and we aren't one of them (usually). It wouldn't be a bad draft though.

If anything, we'll try to move up into the middle of one.The Steelers are also NOT a team that has 100 holes that need filled, so they aren't necessarily going to be searching for more players to draft.

But anything could happen I suppose.

I like the trade out of pick 32 because to me pick 32 is a high second round pick and 2 mid second round pick is a lot better.

would like to see 1 of the second round picks be a WR Robiskie Ohio State because imo would be the best replacement for Hines Ward in this draft when Ward retires.

Since the Steelers have a great throwing QB now in Big Ben give him the weapons to get the ball down field.
