View Full Version : Steelers Are Just Sitting Around!!!
03-08-2005, 10:39 PM
why is it that steelers are just sitting around during the free agency period. they have a great team but they have a couple week areas.
For example, our CB's, the reason we lost to New England, we lost our chance at gary baxter, samari rolle and fred smoot!! But, we can still get ty law. we need a CB for our defense
03-08-2005, 11:15 PM
hey kid calm down , lol First off the steelers are almost always and wait and see team in FA, secound we dont have much cap room , third Fred smoot is highly over rated very in consintent, Ty is comign back froma broken foot and is 31,Rolle is very injury prone and we juts got rid of chad scott we dotn need anthior player warming the bench. and third thats whys theres a draft man calm down. and we have tayler or coc moving up .
03-08-2005, 11:26 PM
Yes relax..the Steelers are NEVER a team to run out and try and sign everybody..we wait and see how it unfolds, and we only bring in the ones that we can afford that can help us the most. We have never been, and probably never will be a huge player in FA. We build thru the draft and plug holes in FA, till draft picks are ready. It's always been that way.
We'll be fine...and Jersey is right. Townsend and Williams didnt lose that game for us. The turnovers, and big Special Teams play did.
Of course everybody could have played better, but u cant pin it on just 1 position. :)
03-08-2005, 11:30 PM
it was a shock to me hearing we picked up a Wr in Fa lol
03-08-2005, 11:31 PM
U kinda knew we'd get some kinda veteran, if nothing else for insurance..but yeah its odd that we acted so quickly in the offseason.
03-09-2005, 12:46 AM
What a great signing. Sign a 15 game starter that nobody else wants when prices WR are going sky high. Brilliant. You just needed a guy to catch 40 -50 balls in our trio, who isn't afraid to return kicks. I want a dream job of working in our front office.
03-09-2005, 12:50 AM
lol ya our front office does m some moves that are very good for our fran.
03-09-2005, 01:22 AM
I always wish our war room will be shown on draft day. I would love to watch it.
03-09-2005, 04:37 AM
Coclough will fit in at cb justfine
03-09-2005, 08:57 AM
As for Ricardo, why is Taylor always above him in the depth chart?
03-09-2005, 09:33 AM
Taylor has been with the steelers longer, and has started some games, so at this point he's still technically alittle above ricardo, but that could change this year.
03-09-2005, 11:51 AM
iam thinkign they might start coc this year he has great skills but needs to hone them with NFL exp.
03-09-2005, 03:09 PM
coc seems like the more complete corner, but Ike has great size
03-09-2005, 03:18 PM
so between the 2 of them we have 1 good corner.. .. Taylor takes 2 steps back for every 1 step forward..and coclough while still raw, has good speed and abilities.. dont forget, Taylor is a converted CB.
03-09-2005, 03:19 PM
So who would you pick right now?? I really think Cowher is leaning towards Coc
03-09-2005, 03:21 PM
I do as well.. when Taylor started to digress, coclough got significant playing time. Taylor really needs to assert himself or risk losing what momentum he may still have. I'd go w/ coc right now myself.
03-09-2005, 06:28 PM
I wonder if Cowher is listening to us, maybe we will have some input, NOT. Oh well its good to coach from the lazy boy.
03-09-2005, 08:08 PM
ya i like iks size and all but somtimes size just doesnt matter.
03-10-2005, 12:42 AM
Thanks for your posts, you guys are right. Maybe two heads are better becuase I can remember Ricardo in the nickel being let outside to cover the sides and such while Taylor would stay inside in nickel situations to help the run and such. I just feel we have to be able to consistantly beat the Colts and Pats 3rd and 4th WR's with our 3rd and 4th CB's. Right now, we might be coming up short.
03-10-2005, 02:48 AM
ya when they go 5 wideouts thats one were in a lil bti of trouble , thats why i hope we get a top notch CB in the 1st.
03-10-2005, 04:26 AM
With Indy you need all the DB`s you can get.
03-11-2005, 12:11 AM
Whether its CB's or LB's we need to be solid in the back to shut everyone down. We can shut out people with run game and clock control during the regular seson, but in the post season people tighten up and then you have to be able to score often and defend with adjustments.
03-11-2005, 12:46 AM
agasint the jags we saw we can dod a 2 min drill very well.
03-11-2005, 11:29 AM
and against the Jets too..when we had to have a play, and have to have a score, he came thru for us.
03-11-2005, 03:25 PM
I don`t think we are sitting around anymore, signing our own first, got a receiver, looking at Ty Law, waiting and watching Plax. Steelers are busy, we just don`t need as much as Oak, Was, Cleve, and those crap teams
03-12-2005, 12:56 AM
Actually, Ty is checking us out. Plus, we know the first month or so teams overpay. You sign a WR today, and The next day another is signed at a higher rate. Agents go crazy to get big money and press. We just want to wait until the dust settles and agents are getting calls from angry clients(ahem..Plax) asking where all the money is. Then the agent sees their cut getting smaller and smaller and the power goes to the team. Then we bring them in for a visit, show them four super bowl trophies, 68,000 capacity playground, and they realize they could have done worse.
03-12-2005, 03:22 AM
ya he coulda had eli throwign him the ball.
03-12-2005, 03:58 PM
Eli won`t be able to keep up with Big Ben
03-14-2005, 06:37 PM
Eli has a long way to go b/4 he enjoys the success that ben has had so far in his career. It's gotta sweet revenge for Ben..even though he doesnt seem to care much now about it of course..but to know that he felt he was the best QB in the draft, and rivers and manning got picked ahead of him, and now to see how much success he has, and what a great team he's got around him!
03-15-2005, 12:49 PM
thing i love about ben even thought it was tommy getting hurt , ben was sad tommy had to go down but came in and is now the starter.
03-15-2005, 01:51 PM
The NFL is all about opportunity. Ben seized his opportunity and ran w/ it. As opposed to Eli who couldnt hit the broad side of a barn all season.
03-15-2005, 01:54 PM
ya truw and in the last game he did good in 1 qtr and they sya hes gonnign to be great lol, all i say with what proof do u say so?

03-15-2005, 01:59 PM
I dont doubt eli will be great..but its gonna take longer for him to develop, given the sorry state of the giants in general.
03-15-2005, 02:01 PM
nothing against it. just having a little fun
03-15-2005, 02:02 PM
