I am. He is a MONSTER. I still find it amazing that he was able to cover WR and TE. Remember him picking off Matt Cassel?Remember his hit on Mason in the Playooffs? Im predicting 110 tackles and 7 sacks and 4 picks and a Probowl :tt02::tt02::tt02::tt02::tt02::tt02::tt02:

P.S. Is there an Official Nickname thread?

I don't know, but if anyone suggests "Timmy," they should be slapped around with a fat dick and told to come up with something less obvious and less retarded.

I really can't wait to see Timmons full time. Whether he gets that honor this year or next. The only concern is that he could downgrade our run defense somewhat, but I'm sure the team will figure out a way to coach him up in that area as need be, he certainly has the physical tools to be a run stuffer.

The thing that is so intriguing to me about Timmons is, he is a pass rusher by trade. So we really have three pass rush specialists out on the field at all times with Harrison, Woodley and now Timmons disguised as a middle linebacker. Blitzing those three guys at the same time should prove to pay great dividends.

I can't wait to see what Lawrence does in his third year.

I like Timmons...but thats a little much. I hope his stats are like that but it is easier to come off the bench and make plays because opposing teams don't prepare for you. I think he will have a learning curve but will quickly climb it.

L.T is going to make A LOT of plays for us, and as a Steelers fan, HOW CAN'T YOU BE EXCITED FOR THIS? The defense just got THAT MUCH BETTER.

His big hit on Mason was in the regular season not the playoffs

But yeah, he is awesome :tt02:

Give it a couple games, and he'll be fine. He had 2 seasons to learn, and IS ready for a permanent starting job.

This means Bruce Davis will get to see the field and maybe fill the role Timmons once occupied

not really

If someone's banged up or worse, that's exactly what will happen. When's the last time we made it all the way through the season with none of the four linebackers missing a game, or having to take a couple series off because they were shaken up? Davis could be on the field quite a bit, since we've got no depth now.

Davis has shown nothing yet. He could be on the field not at all. We have more backup linebackers than Davis

Do we have a choice?

It is what it is.

He needs to come in and fill the spot and do a good job. Period.

I hope he lights it up. I'm a team first player.

I hope so. I'm dying to see Davis on the field. If he was a couple inches taller and a little heavier that dude had the talent to go in the first round last year. Behind our massive brutes up front his speed should be deadly coming around the edge in pass rush situations. We just need to be patient with him and teach him how to play the pro game. Worked out wonderfully for Harrison and Woodley.

Pumped as hell . . . our LB corps is so ridiculous year-to-year.

Also, now it's time for guys like Fox and Davis to show they can play.

We have very limited depth at ILB now. We'll have to shift one of the OLB's like Frazier or Harrison (the other one) over...

Timmons should have been starting last year. This is his 3rd year. The learning curve should not be that great for a number 1 pick.

Yeah, but it's not like any of them are out there tearing it up either. If it's not Davis filling in, it'll be someone else I'm worried about.

That's what I said there is still a learning curve. I'm just saying that we shouldn't expect absolutely huge numbers for his first year, start off reasonable. I'm pumped about him starting, Foote hasn't contributed a lot in the past few years (4.5 sacks and 1 int) So, I think he will do better than that.

i doubt it. he doesn't really have anything to offer. sure he got some sacks against the weaker competition in the NCAA, but this is the NFL. the guy couldn't even make special teams.

may he has improved this off-season. i guess we will wait and see.

Wasn't Timmons the first pick of the Tomlin era? A guy that could play in the 3-4 and 4-3 cause we were supposed to transition to 4-3.

Yep, Timmons then Woodley.

Friggin great start to the Tomlin era

Timmons is such a great athlete that he can fit any system really.....same with Woodley

I am a little worried about Ziggy fitting the 3-4 though, seems like more of a gap shooting 4-3 type to me

oh i'm sorry, i didn't know you were a huge davis fan. let me rephrase it just for you.

this guy has an unlimited array of skills and strengths to offer. that's why he couldn't crack the special teams lineup. davis is the king of LBs. they need to bench harrison and replace him with davis. his one-loop move combined with his weak upperbody strength and minimal speed will be unstoppable.

the steelers should also re-sign alonzo jackson.

No I don't think he will. He was a DE in college and struggled to learn the OLB spot. I think that Keyaron Fox, Patrick Bailey and the rookie Andy Schantz (has a chance to make the team as a special teamer and some fill in time).

Anyone think it's possible we see Humpal back in camp if and when Foote does go? As far as I know he's available, just how bad was that injury?

Nothing concrete, but it kinda sounded like his career may have ended before it started. Not sure though.

Stop and think about that first Tomlin draft for a second.

Rd. 1
Lawrence Timmons - A potential beast that is entering his first year as a starter. Had 77 tackles, 5.0 sacks, and an int as a backup.

Rd. 2
Lamarr Woodley - Took off in 2nd year. 2.0 Sacks in every career postseason game to date. 89 tackles, 10.5 sacks and an int in first season as a starter.

Rd. 3
Matt Spaeth - Our number one backup at tight end. Excellent blocker. 17 catches for 136 yards this season.

Rd. 4
Daniel Sepulveda - Strong leg punter showed flashes as a rookie. Injured last season.

Rd. 5
William Gay - Entering starting lineup this upcoming season. Has played strong since he entered the league and provided quality depth and competition at CB. 38 tackles and an int in 08.

Looking back on that draft, many people said it was a bust when it first was done and especially after the first season. Look what another year can do for it. I'm hoping that this is a sign of things to come for last years class.

HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:tt02::tt02::tt02:

Yeah, I'm loving that we are having competitions for alot of our roster spots. Shows that we aren't just satisfied ever in the guys from last year. Tomlin always is giving open competition to the players. This is why we will be a tough franchise as long as he is our head coach.

He already had a nickname and it's "Silverback." You guys didn't know that? And, yes, I am very pumped to see him on the field every down. He is crazy "sudden" and will be wreaking havoc. Think of how good the D was withOUT HIM on the field every play. Now consider Woodley rounding into his prime, with Silverback, Farrior and now Timmons!
