Since I am one of Patrick Bailey's biggest fan, if not the biggest I feel I should pay my respects to the 2008 Steeler Rookie Of the Year. Bailey was an undrafted free agent out of Duke. At Duke he played DE primarily but moved in and out of the OLB spot. He finished his career with:

191 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery and four forced fumbles

Bailey was cut twice by the Steelers before sticking it out for the remainder of the season. Bailey finished his rookie campaign with a strong performance in the Super Bowl. He finished his rookie year with:

16 special team tackles (3rd on team)

The Steelers had the best kickoff coverage in the league, allowing only 19.4 yards per return, and the fourth-best punt coverage, allowing 6.1 yards per return. It was his many contribution in games that lead to Patrick being selected as the 25th recipient of the Joe Greene Performance Award.

Love Bailey. Hopefully he can continue to be a special teams demon and who knows, maybe one day he'll shine in some defensive action as well.

Glad you brought it up. Bailey is one of our highly unappreciated special teams gems. Glad to have him on the squad :tt:

I agree. When he 1st came in, i was skeptical. It was kinda like shoving a bunch of tater tots in your mouth...seems like a good idea at the time but there is probably better options out there to experiment with. I'm glad I was proven wrong.

Love me some PB.

If someone had to get cut Bailey or FOx i choose Bailey!

Anyway... Bailey's the shit. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action next season. :helmet:

Thankfully we don't have to make that choice since they are both excellent backups and special team players!

Fox is no where near as good as Bailey. After Breastons long return in the Super Bowl it was Bailey who made the next 3 huge stops including that malicious hit after the Holmes touchdown. Plus, he is young. I'd rather have the young stud than the older less talented LB. But, then again I'm biased...my name is 55BaileyFan...but who's taken note?
