Since I am one of Patrick Bailey's biggest fan, if not the biggest I feel I should pay my respects to the 2008 Steeler Rookie Of the Year. Bailey was an undrafted free agent out of Duke. At Duke he played DE primarily but moved in and out of the OLB spot. He finished his career with:
191 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery and four forced fumbles
Bailey was cut twice by the Steelers before sticking it out for the remainder of the season. Bailey finished his rookie campaign with a strong performance in the Super Bowl. He finished his rookie year with:
16 special team tackles (3rd on team)
The Steelers had the best kickoff coverage in the league, allowing only 19.4 yards per return, and the fourth-best punt coverage, allowing 6.1 yards per return. It was his many contribution in games that lead to Patrick being selected as the 25th recipient of the Joe Greene Performance Award.
