Beat writer Ed Bouchette expects the Steelers to open contract extension talks with Heath Miller soon.
Miller, due $800K in the final year of his rookie deal, is one of the league's more valuable every-down tight ends, even if he's only a TE2 in fantasy. He probably won't get Kellen Winslow money (six years, $36.1M), though.

I hope the FO is able to re-sign him. He is an asset in the running game and a great target for Ben.

I didn't know that he was only making 800k next year. We need to resign this guy, he is so valuable to our team, even if we don't utilize him completely.

800k? What an insult. Yeah, he deserves a pay raise. Imagine if we get this contract done quick. We can rest easy knowing that yet another key Steeler will be with us for a bit longer :tt:

Who was the poster here that had "inside information" a few months ago that Miller was leaving?? He said he knew that Heath wanted more passes thrown his way.

Heath Miller making that kind of money is a joke folks. I remember seeing that on a site where they had their salaries but had forgotten about it. If Miller were playing in Dallas where they use the TE like they do he would have 75 or 80 recs a year. So, they need to get him signed for sure.. just remembering back and watching our last super bowl should tell ya how much he means to Ben in the passing game..

Why is everyone so surprised he's making so little? That's his rookie contract, and we drafted very low that year. So of course he deserves a raise from that, and it sounds like he's going to get one.

Foote's $ is available.

They actually need to make more cuts to get the 4Mil and change that comprises the rookie salary pool according to most reports.

WTF does his "only a TE2 in fantasy football" worth have to do with any of it? Kinda kills the credibility of the article. Stupid. :dang:

Hey man, turn on ESPN anytime during the season, the talkingheads seem to think fantasy football is more important than the actual games. :chuckle: :wink02:

Exactly. Its why you are always better to build thru the draft instead of overpaying average players to fill a need. For instance:

LT Anthony Collins 2009 salary =$ 385,000
LT Max Starks 2009 salary =$8,451,000

Just what I was thinking. I know rotoworld is a FF site, but the "even if he's only" seems totally unnecesary

Heath Miller is too valuable to our offense to not resign him. I have faith in the F.O.

Heath Miller is a very key part of the offense and needs to get paid. Max Starks should offer to take a pay cut! I think he is some what overpaid.

Sorry, I am beyond crying and just moderately frustrated. I was pimping Collins, Jeremy Zuttah and Carl Nicks in the 3rd round when we decided to take Bruce Davis instead. Could have saved $8million and had just as good a LT as Starks.

Collins, Nicks, Zuttah are way better options.

Unfortunately, the Ravens are probably gonna scoop one of the OT's in this round. Maybe Collins. http://www.steelersfever.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24740&highlight=anthony+collins&page=91

Dam right... How does F'n stupid 'FANTASY' football account for his huge part in blocking.... not to mention his glue spackled hands??

For the love of God... FF was the worst thing to happen to the NFL, with the Madden games in close 2nd...

Now every one is a stat mongering GM....

We'll keep Heath . . . of all the guys with contracts expiring next year he's the most likely to stay.

IMO Parker would be the one to leave, as we have an in-house replacement and he'd command a lot of money.
