And now there are three.

The Steelers now have signed six of their 2009 NFL Draft choices, with Mike Wallace, Sonny Harris and A .Q. Shipley the most recent rookies to reach agreements on their first professional contracts. All signed three-year deals.

Wallace, a wide receiver from Mississippi who has what the team believes to be difference-making speed, was the Steelers’ first pick in the third round. Also a dangerous kickoff return man, Wallace left Mississippi as the career leader in that statistic.

Harris was the Steelers’ sixth-round pick, and he will compete for a backup spot along the defensive line during the upcoming training camp. Shipley, who attending Moon High School in Western Pennsylvania and then Penn State, had 39 career starts at center for the Nittany Lions.

Wallace, Harris and Shipley now join Keenan Lewis, Joe Burnett and Frank Summers as draft choices who have signed. That leaves No. 1 pick Ziggy Hood, No. 3 pick Kraig Urbik and No. 7b pick D.J. Johnson as unsigned rookies.

In order to make room for these signed draft picks, the Steelers also released six players – defensive end Jeff Bradley, long-snapper Mark Estermyer, wide receivers Jayson Foster and Cedric Goodman, quarterback Kevin McCabe and fullback Ryan Powdrell.

The Steelers open training camp at Saint Vincent College on July 31.

Sorry, I was bored.

At least we finally got some thing worth reading, a lot of these off season threads are not that good.

I would have liked to see Mark Estermyer make the roster because he went to Pitt, but he didn't really have any chance of doing so.

Well, no one very important, but if you all are like me (which I think you are), then you think every tidbit of Steelers information is important!

We heard earlier today that four members of the Steelers became former members of the Steelers during a weightlifting session.

Actually, six got the shoe.

They are defensive end Jeff Bradley, long-snapper Mark Estermyer, wide receiver Jayson Foster, wide receiver Cedric Goodman, quarterback Kevin McCabe, and fullback Ryan Powdrell.

I knew someone liked Powdrell...maybe we are hoping he just clears the system and we bring him back later on.

I like getting the signings done early. We have only 3 more and hopefully Heath will get an extension before long as well.

Not anyone shocking here but I did think Powdrell would hang around at least until camp.

I don't think there are any big surprises here, but this thread kind of gets me pumped up as football season is right around the corner!

Keisel - can you please provide a link for your OP? Thanks! :drink:

Great to see them getting a jump on all the rookie signings!!

I guess my hopes for Carey Davis being replaced at FB took a hit with the release of Powdrell.

This is impressive. I don't expect them to sign Hood until much closer to camp, but I do expect them to be the first team to get everyone signed.
