Steelers Sign 7th Round TE David Johnson
The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the signing of seventh round (241st overall) tight end David Johnson to a three-year contract.

Johnson was the team's final pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and is the seventh of their nine draft choices to agree to contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Johnson likely received a signing bonus of around $33,500.

The Steelers continue to sign their draft picks at a consistent rate, and when David Johnson came to terms on Friday the team had seven of their nine picks from the 2009 draft under contract.

Johnson, the 6-foot-2, 260-pound tight end from Arkansas State, was the Steelers’ final selection, their second pick in the seventh round.

Johnson's statistics did not put him on any All-America teams, but his 22 receptions in 2008 went for 356 yards (a 16.2 average) and five touchdowns.

“David Johnson is a tight end, but he is more of a move-type tight end – he is not the typical 6-4, 6-5 guy but more the 6-2 guy who can move and play some H-back or fullback,” said Director of Football Operations Kevin Colbert.

The only unsigned players among the draft choices are No. 1 pick Ziggy Hood and third-round pick Kraig Urbik.

The Steelers have had a solid record of getting their draft choices signed before the start of training camp. The last No. 1 pick to miss any time because of a contract situation was Ben Roethlisberger, who signed on Aug. 3 for a camp that opened on July 30.

Since then, the Steelers have gotten Heath Miller, Santonio Holmes, Lawrence Timmons and Rashard Mendenhall signed for the start of training camp.

I am kind of curious to see what kind of contract Hood will get. I just hope he don't try to break us.
