Wow!

It must be bad when SHE is the one attacking His Holiness!

(CNSNews.com) - Following a testy exchange during today’s briefing with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas told CNSNews.com that not even Richard Nixon tried to control the press the way President Obama is trying to control the press.

“Nixon didn’t try to do that,” Thomas said. “They couldn’t control (the media). They didn’t try.

“What the hell do they think we are, puppets?” Thomas said. “They’re supposed to stay out of our business. They are our public servants. We pay them.”

That sound that you hear is the wheels coming off the Obama Train.

He's already losing his suburban backers in droves and it's only going to get worse when people start waking up to what he and his acolytes are trying to do with Cap and Tax (Trade).

Note that I said butbutbut,

I've seen ad hominem attacks about her looks for years, and those attacks came from conservatives on other message boards. Funny how suddenly what she says has merit.

What's she's said has always had merit, even if people didn't want to hear it. In this case, she's one of the few voices of experience that can tell people what's really going on in an historical context.

Of course the liberals will continue to spin this to make it look like Obama somehow embodies all that the Founding Fathers intended for America.

Hmmm, perhaps the media shouldn't allow themselves to be controlled?

Actually, I find it quite arrogant what she said, as if she has a special place in American society. Her "special place" derives its freedom from the exact same amendment that my freedom OF religion derives its place. Her job and responsibility is of no more or less importance constitutionally.

I just think it is funny to hear her complain.

Exactly. They have as much of an option to be controlled as Obama does in trying to control them.

I don't think Jeff4i was saying Obama doesn't have responsiblity in the matter, but more that these media types are grown adults and have the option to not drink the kool-aid that Obama is serving.

I'd love to say Obama is at fault but in reality as much as it is his responsibility, it is also the responsibility of the editors and producers to make sure that they are creating unbiased news - but as we both know it's many years, did I say YEARS, since the media outlets have been unbiased (one way or the other).

This is interesting. This guy has been in power for what, a couple hundred days? Look at all the stuff that he's done, what with the dual spending/stimulus bills, nationalizing the car companies, trying to socialize medicine, raising energy taxes through cap and trade...

In just a couple hundred days.

THIS is what we get for electing a guy nobody knew anything about, based on some silver-tongued promises of change and other empty rhetoric and campaign lies.

It will get much, much worse before it gets any better...and I expect to hear a lot more stuff like this from both sides of the aisle before it's over.

He and Emanuel had a reporter planted in the audience during a press conference specifically to lob the President a softball. That's a level of manipulation that used to only been seen in Socialist countries.

The basis of our Democracy is the free and open exchange of ideas. When anyone, up to and including the White House, perverts the process for mere political gain it cheapens everyone involved.

The news has always been somewhat driven by ratings. But in the age of cable, news has become a ratings profanityfilterprofanityfilterprofanityfilterprofa nityfilterprofanityfilter. The news will climb in to bed with anyone if the powers that be think that it will help ratings. I stopped watching cable news years ago. I get what I need from one of the network broadcasts.

This is not just about cable news, this is about the press as a WHOLE that is being manipulated by the Obama Administration

I wish I had your news. What I see of the local news, they spend too much time on deaths of so-called "idols" but fail to cover major news presses such as what our politicians are doing.

It's like they try to squeeze as many cover stories in a broadcast without giving the meat!

This is what I was getting at. CNS is the same as ABC, just different market.

That's the thing, it's the market. Media, in today's world, is there to sell things. So they sell what people want to hear, for ABC fans it's usually Kool-Aid, for CNS/FOX fans it's usually HaterAid.

Back on topic...

There was an editorial in my local paper today, and the guy made a great point (and not dissimilar to my earlier assertion).

Since Obama has taken over, we have "socialized": The banks, two of the "Big Three", the housing market, some Insurance companies, and now they are making a play for the health care industry.

Tomorrow is Independence Day, and have we ever, as a Country, been more dependent on our government than we are now? Even in the Depression?
