Cowboys Voted by America as the NFL’s Most Hated Team
http://nationalsportsreview.com/sports/us/NFL/2009/07/13/cowboys-voted-by-america-as-the-nfl%E2%80%99s-most-hated-team/

It seems that the sports nation (according to ESPN that is) has spoken when it comes to the teams that NFL fans across America love to hate. Mike Sando of ESPN wrote today about a poll that some 870,000 readers of ESPN took on 25 topics, and one of great interest was the amount that fans do not certain teams.

In their poll, the teams that got the most votes for being hated went as followed:

Dallas Cowboys (36 percent)
New England Patriots (34 percent)
Pittsburgh Steelers (12 percent)
New York Giants (9 percent)
Oakland Raiders (9 percent)

So it looks like Dallas’ nickname of being known as “America’s Team” is out the window with these results. The Pats being second is not a big shock with their success and the whole “spygate” saga of a few years ago.

Pittsburgh has such a rabid following, possibly the best in the league, so that also makes them a target for not being liked. The Giants are a New York team, so they have a lot of lovers and haters, but maybe the one that is the most shocking is Oakland. They have not been a contender since their last Super Bowl where they were bombed by the Buccaneers in 2003, but in many fans eyes, they are the team that many still love to hate.

Third? THIRD?! We should always be #1 and always ahead of New Cheatland* and the Cowgirlies in everything! We're just going to do more, keep winning so that we take our rightful place as the most hated team and fanbase in not just America, but the world!

I like the fact that we are one of the most hated teams in the NFL.

When people stop hating us and start to pity us, then it's time to be worried.

Being hated means we are successful, so let the haters hate. I will just greet them with a Six Rings reply and flip 'em the finger.

this poll is actually really telling. most people hate the cowboys because they claim to be "americas team" even though they are pretenders who havent even won a playoff game since the '95 season, yet still act like their shit dont stink.

just about an equal amount hate the patriots because they have been exposed as cheating frauds who think that their shit dont stink.

as for the 12% who voted for the steelers the breakdown is easy.

2.5% of all voters are disgruntled brownfans.
2% are beaten down cowboy fans.
2% are jealous patriotfans.
2% are sore raiderfans.
.02% are bunglefans (not enough fans to have actual significance in a poll).
1.5% loser raven fans.
1.98% fans of all other teams.

i would say most nfl fans in general appreciate our ownership and style of play and recognize us as the best team of all time.

people actually like it when we win as opposed to the cheaters and posers.

it is good being king with an 88% approval rating. :tt02:

can no lose!

My thoughts EXACTLY---who came up with this sucky poll? WE should be in first place!

Like Vince Lombardi once said, "There is only ONE place, and that's FIRST place."

Dallas and New England give you great reasons to hate them like cheating and having d-bags on their teams

People hate Pittsburgh because of jealousy and we beat their favorite teams more often than not

huge difference

That just tells me that the 12% that hates us are just jealous of our 6 rings!!!!!!!!!!

they hate us and the other winners because they cant do what these teams do, consistently play at the top and win sb's

we should have many enemies...

I never hear anybody crying about refs being bought off whenever any other teams win SBs, so I think 12% is probably quite a bit lower than actual reality. :noidea:

the steelers really never seem like a ref favorite.... in any game.

we have a lot of TD's turned around on holding calls each year.

This, in a nutshell, is the kind of crap I'm talking about:

Every time we win, there's always some bullshit "controversy" contrived by a giant collection of pussies and crybabies surrounding it afterwards, and it pisses me off.

Skip Bayless? He always finds something to whine about.

And also this poll is from ESPN, and is a small sample of the U.S.

I wouldn't know - I swore off Disney Channel II after the SB XL flap that they also almost singlehandedly created (along with that fat slob John "That-Didn't-Look-Like-A-Hold-To-Me-Because-I'm-Still-Butthurt-Over-The-Immaculate-Reception!" Madden) and which we're still hearing about regularly (the YouTube link was sent to me by a Cowboys fan who knows this kind of BS gets under my skin). But that was just a small example of the widespread whining which occurs pretty much every time we win nowadays.

we always get to see the weekly replays of us scoring and everyone whining.......

but there is no repeated replays all week of the td's we lose every other game... after further review..... they can kiss our a----
we won the SB

Don't forget the bullshit late-hit-out-of-bounds calls that plagued us during the Super Bowl XL year and the 15-1 season the year before. Maybe it's just me, but it seemed like every one of those involved our guy getting a pinky on a receiver who was an inch over the white line while going at a full run, and it always came when we'd just stopped them on a key third-and-14.

This year coming up, it's probably going to be bullshit roughing-the-passer calls because of the Brady Rule when we stop them on 3rd-and-14.

The brady rule is in my opinion is a small add on. I know they have a lot of short pass plays and short slants, and counter blitz plays. but brady can sure stand their a while... with very few holding calls on the OL. i would love to see that stat..
how many pass plays a year they att and how many holding calls on the OL. versus the whole league.. besides the brady rule.. which will only add the the crap..

and then seeing woodley and harrison mugged all day in any game and get no calls... thats a real crime. i actually dont know what an actual hold is anymore...
it depends what teams are on the field i guess.

All 9% is probably people who remember the cheap shot artists and dirty players, back when the raiders knew how to play football and Al Davis was not 100% insane.

Wonder if any left wing socialists in govt. had any vote given the steelers earned 6 superbowls and wouldn't let the cards win last year :chuckle:

and the 12% haters say the same shit evertime.."the super bowls in the 70s are tainted cause of steriods" "the refs won the last 2 superbowls" "lol you might have won you live in shitsburgh"..gets pretty annoying, i wish those 12% would fall off the planet

Exactly, they're not very original either - like you said, same BS EVERY TIME. You can throw in "Squeelers," "Stoolers," and/or "Stealers" to go along with "Shittsburgh" and all the other 6th grade-level insults. It's gotten beyond old. And I also agree about them falling off the planet, only my wish for the effers is that they would all go die in a fire.

I think 12% is a good number.

I'm sure that the Cowboys and Patrits have backlash from all the media slobbering they receive.

Bill Bellicheck's non-existent humanity and class probably play a decent role as well.

The Raiders score points for obnoxious fans and stupid owner.

as the most successful team of the last 5 years, we're entitled to be hated out of envy. I think 12% is a good envy number that probably doesn't represent much about the character of the team.

The Steelers might injure more opposing players than average. It'd be interesting to see a stat on that.
