Ziggy Stardust's contract is done :tt02:

The Pittsburgh Steelers reached an agreement in principle Saturday on a five-year deal with first-round choice Evander "Ziggy" Hood, the 32nd pick in the NFL draft, according to a source.

Terms of the deal were not available, but Hood, a defensive end out of Missouri, became the fourth first-rounder to come to a contract agreement.

According to Sprints NFL mobile, he signed. it didnt say the legarh of the deal but said hell get 6.1 garunteed, a base of 8.7 and could possibly be worth 11.1. The report said Ziggy learned of the agreement while in Missouri running 110 yard sprints with former teammates

Good News. Once again the Steelers don't wait for other teams to set the amount, but get the job done themselves.

Don't hold your breath - Ben's trial (if there even is one) won't be for another year.

TheDuke,
What happens if a rookie doesn`t accept the contract on offer....I mean, does he then try to find another team?if an agreement is never reached, then the player can sit out for a year, and re-enter the draft the following year.

Well, this is good.

On the other hand, if you can't sign your first-round draft pick, either you must have your head up your ass, or they do.

Thanks MOP...again!
Do players who re-enter the draft have a specific title?
Seems kinda strange a player would be willing to sit out a year.:noidea:
So much to learn.....oh well "we shall overcome":hope:

Steelers fans are excited to that we are addressing an aging defensive line. We don't necessarily need him to make a huge impact this year. He'll be learning the game from the best veterns and the best coach in the league, and hopefully be ready to make that big splash in a year or 2.

I'm not sure any player has sit out the year, instead of signing. By the way, I think it's cool that your interested in learning about American football and you picked the right team to support...

I'm not sure any player has sit out the year, instead of signing.: Bo Jackson 1986 ,was drafted by tampa bay ...played baseball for a year, re-entered the draft then was drafted by the raiders.

Posted: July 26th, 2009 | Jason La Canfora | Tags: draft pick, Evander Hood, Pittsbrugh Steelers, signing

Pittsburgh’s Evander Hood is one of four first-rounders to sign, agreeing to a deal with the Steelers Saturday. He agreed to a four year deal, with a club option for a fifth year, according to league sources. The deal, including all bonuses and escalators, is worth a max of $11.3 million, with $6.1 million guaranteed. The total base value of the contract is just under $9 million.

The defensive lineman was the last of the club’s picks to sign.
