Favre

Quarterback Brett Favre has informed Minnesota Vikings officials that he will remain retired, according to The Star Tribune.

Coach Brad Childress confirmed the news to the Star Tribune, leaving the Vikings in an unexpected and awkward spot with training camp set to open Wednesday. The Vikings are now left to choose between Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels as their 2009 starter.

"I just think it was a rare opportunity to explore a Hall of Fame quarterback who had background in the NFC and in this division," Childress said to the newspaper. "He knows our system inside out ... This doesn't change anything about how I feel about our football team."

Minnesota, say hello to your new QB, Michael Vick

I won't believe it until Week 16

Well, I guess we all know where Vick is headed now.

It probably won't even create much of a disturbance in Minnesota, since during football season any protesters would just freeze to death.

I say who cares. I just dont know how childress goes back to jackson or rosenfels. I think childress is reaching for anything to save his job.

Maybe they will trade for Vince Young if they don't sign Vick.

Finally an end to the B.S. . Why would they want to start all over with Vick?

I believe this is good for the Vikings. I just dont see the point of paying someone 10mil to throw 30 interceptions and 2 only play for one year. Its not like they were a lock for the Super Bowl with him. Now they have 10 mil free'd up to build on what they have. Lets face it Farve was only going to come back because he wanted a shot vs Green Bay. JMO

I might start to believe it if we make it to opening day and he's not on someone's roster.

Well, if I'm not mistaken, if he's not on a team by week 1 and has retired, he must wait a year before he comes back.

Wonder which team Favre will play head games with next? I love the guy but his indecisive behaviors over the past several years are deplorable.

Now he's just looking for attention. He's addicted to it.

I almost would say the UFL goes after him for their 6 week run. Anyway I guess I can finally bet that New York Titans Favre jersey framed.

I for one am utterly disappointed that Favre isn't playing this year....or at least I think he's not. I would have loved to see him play againt Green Bay.

I wouldn't be too upset. The Vikings should be a contender even without Favre.

I think Farve made the right decision to stay retired. That is what he should have done last year instead of playing for the Jets.

Well, I'm disappointed too.

I wanted to see Packers fans squirm.

Not really a fair characterization in this case. He retired. Minnesota pretty much stalked him to try to change his mind.
