The season hasn't started yet, but I am predicting that #56 wins NFL defensive player of the year this season. Sure, it might be a little biased, but after seeing what he did in the playoffs last season, I don't think it is far fetched. He is entering his third season and plays for the best defense in the league. There are too many other studs on our defense to double team Woodley, and he lines up opposite of last year's NFL defensive POY. I love the way this guy plays and the crushing hits he puts on opposing QBs.

well if he does, kiss his ass goodbye, because the steelers sure won't be able to pay him...

Woodley's a beast, but if there's a non-James Harrison Steelers LB to win it this year, it will be Timmons.

No love for Troy?

Polamalu, Cowher's draft pick, has made so many cerebral catches. Possibly only eclipsed by Lynn Swann. Not to mention the shoestring sack of Flacco in last year's playoffs. Could be the smartest defensive player with the best instincts in the league.

I was thinking along the same lines MOP. Sure I want him to have a stellar season, but I'd sure hate for the Steelers to lose him.

I'm not sure it's quite time yet for Woodley. Certainly I see a Pro Bowl appearance this season. It would be nice to see Troy win one because all of us know he truly is the MVP of the Steelers defense. He just needs to be healthy for most of the year to reap the awards.

I don't see Woodley getting it this year. I think he is in line for a Pro Bowl though.

Harrison, Ware, Polamalu, and Reed are the guys who I think will be in the running.

I hate to say this, but that's so far reached. He's a good player, but not that good.

I hope Woodley has a good season. I don't think it will be an nfl player of the year but it will be a good one. I also believe Timmons and Harrison will have a good year. as well.

I get the feeling that Timmons is going to be far better than people realize.

you never know.. he has a chance to rack up some serious sack numbers. with Harrison already drawing double teams on one side, and if Timmons can emerge as a blitzing threat up the middle, Woodley could benefit the most. he is still improving, as it's only his 3rd year in the league.

my thoughts as well

Heck, if he comes anywhere near something like DPOY, then I think the Steelers chances at repeating are pretty darn good.
