I don't know why but, i get the feeling that next year, we might be drafting a middle linebacker. I know its a little too early to predict things but i get that feeling because, James Farrior isn't getting younger, and i know hes been playing at a very high level for many years, but how long will he be playing at that level, and when will he retire ?

I have been looking at some mock drafts already. There is one got us taking OLB Brandon Lang, Troy. That is the only one I have seen us taking a linebacker.

I have seen alot of mocks havin us take O'Dowd Center from USC . My early fav is Terrence Cody NT from Alabama or Brandon Spike ILB from Florida. But that means we wont draft either lol.

There is one more player from USC if odowd is picked.. Taylor Mays..

Free Safety.. Fast and Hits Hard. Fast like Ike... Maybe faster.. Hits like Troy.

I would love to get Mays but I think the guy will be a top 10 pick and we would have to trade the house to move up to get him. If he is as fast as they say "UNDEAD AL" of the raiders will have to get him!!!

He would fit in our schema real nice...

We shall see. Teams need a lot of players other than a FS.. He could slide to 32 for us :coffee:

O'Dowd may be are best pick for the OL situation... Shipley could switch to Guard maybe...

The only way we would have a shot @ Mays if we suck this year and end up drafting in the top 10

At this point I think we go DE or OT with the first pick. I would LOVE to get DE Carlos Dunlap but if he declares he will be gone before we pick. My "sexy" DE pick is Alex Carrington from Arkansas State...6'5 289lbs.

I like OT Bryan Bulaga from Iowa, at 6'6 312 lbs...OT Selvish Capers from West Virginia looks smooth and would be a nice pick if he can put on 20-30 lbs.

I also think we will pick up a NT but there are none that fit our sheme in the first two rounds ....Boo Robinson 6'1 305 lbs may be there at the end of the 3rd...also like DT Cam Thomas from North Carolina at 6-3 328 .....and Dan Williams of Tennessee at 6'2 326 lbs, intrigues me as a sleeper

SS may be a position that we look at on the second day...Barry Church from Toledo could be had at the end of the 3rd...quality kid.

If we are looking at ILB early we could go with 2 players who were hurt in 2008 but have a lot of possibility....Sean Lee of Penn State is: 6'2 and 236 lbs, he will be moving from OLB to ILB this year and should be a late 2nd rounder.....or me may be tempted to take 6'1 245 lbs Jamar Chaney from Mississippi St. in the later rounds if he doesnt shoot up the draft boards.

If we dont grab Boo Robinson early...I see very few true bull rushers in this next draft...I think the two I named, DT Cam Thomas from North Carolina.....and Dan Williams of Tennessee....are going to be drafted earlier than they should because of supply and demand.

I agree. I can see Boo moving into the 1st round and right past us. That happens with all the players I like early.

Maybe we should start predicting top 10 players the Steelers will have no shot at. That way we might not be as disappointed. :chuckle:

Did anybody notice Woods playing RG for Buffalo on Sunday. Those bastards knew we wanted a center and they took him to play guard.
Didn't they draft C Marvin Phillip last year...yes they did.

Oh well, it wasn't meant to be. Hood looks to be a good one.

I hate Buffalo. Not only did they get a good center, but probably a better guard than we did.

And their offense will still suck because they have nothing at quarterback.

Yea, but they have TO now. That will make it ALL better.:banging:

It will make them better because TO can make an average QB look good. See Romo, Tony for proof of that. But it's not going to stop them from sucking because they have a terrible offensive line, a running back with a major case of the crazies, and no tight end to speak of.

I will agree with you to a point. TO normally behaves himself the 1st year, but by the 2nd will start to dismantle the team and his QB. He is not what the Bills needed.

IOM Romo has always been an average QB, overrated because he is a cowboy.

he only signed a 1 year contract with them... i really don't see where they had anything to lose. its not like there playoff contenders and have team chemistry to lose. :noidea:

Thank MOP, I thought he sign for a couple years. Now he can start dismantling the team as soon as he gets there. Saves time.

Anthony Davis will be a first round pick. But I would be thrilled if the Steelers landed Davis and Robinson with their first two picks. I like your thought process with those first two picks.

my point is tex...what's there to dismantle ? are they gonna fall from a 7-9 team to a 5-11 team ? is he going to ruin thier already below average qb's ? :noidea:

Hey fellas....Tony Pauline is pimping my guy Tennant now.

Matt Tennant/C/Boston College: Tennant enters the scouting process as one of the most dominant centers from the senior class in a long time. He annihilates opponents at the line of scrimmage or on the move. Tennant has been likened to a more powerful version of former Boston College lineman Chris Snee, now with the New York Giants.

I guess he is no dark horse any more.

Pauline also hacks on Ciron Black like I was last season too and Gil Brandt wasnt overly positive on Black either.

I notice there was a nice write up on Anthony Davis as well.
