More from the champions of "choice" and free speech. Now it seems that labeling someone a socialist is tantamount to calling them the "N-word". And those that wish bho would produce a real birth cert are labeled "birthers". "Socialist" isn't code for anything. And to be clear, I always call them "socialist bastards".

They're right. Boundaries must be drawn.

Politically charged words should have been left out of rhetoric that was spewed the last eight years... "liar" "Fascist" "Extreme right" etc.

Its quite funny that NOW, when it is being said the OTHER WAY, that liberals, er. SOCIALISTS are all upset.

i dont watch MSNBC and couldnt even tell you who this "host" is, but isnt this pretty much small fry television version of op-ed?

no different from the republican congressman who blames gays for the recession?

"liar" "Fascist" "Extreme right" even if those politically charged words were used by gore or kerry's vice presidential candidate on campaign, its a drop in the bucket compared to "paling around with terrorists".

Oh, I don't know. When said guy actually DID bomb American soil in teh 60's, it seems to me terrorist IS an appropriate term. WHat was up for debate was the nature of the relationship.

so should politically charged words been left out or not?

is 'liar" and "extreme right" not appropriate terms?

cheney is extreme right. funny how the man on watch for the largerst terrorist strike on our soil, is blaming obama for supposedly paving the way for more.

i guess more people would take notice if they were some no name [bl]hack " host" on MSNBC.

Exactly Tony. In the long run, neither event adds up to much of anything....even if you combined the two.

"birthers", quite frankly too stupid a term to get upset about.

"liar", if you are one, I'ma call ya one.

the "n" word, I never use because I'm not racist.

"socialist", hey, if the monaker fits.

since you are the one who started this thread, and because saying "it seems..." is really only based on you own perception i gotta ask-

what does it "seem" like to you?

that

a) 1 person on MSNBC thinks that labeling someone as a socialist is tantamount to calling them the "N-word"

B) that 300+ million US citizens believe this.

or c) 6,000,000,000+ people who populate this earth think that?

it seems like alot of people really like to reach to me.

OMG would you guys PLEASE back off this birth certificate thing already! Obama was born in Hawaii!

All this does is supply ammunition to the left...if there was ANY smoke to this fire, the Clinton's would have dug it up long ago. They made Nixon look like Mother Theresa...

Tony, since you brought it up, I have to interject some bho history here. It isn't just Ayers. Ayers is indisputably a terrorist. It isn't arguable. bho's lifelong associations with communists and terrorists are well documented. He's an Alinsky disciple, for Heaven's sake.

Why, when the good people of Illinois sent the young senator to Washington, did he abdicate his responsibilities to them to dash off to Kenya to support the campaign of one Raila Odinga, a marxist radical trained by the East Germans? Do you have any idea how many Christians odinga's people macheteed and burned to death on the way to his becoming the Kenyan prime minister. bho was not only "OK" with that, but he campaigned for him. Snopes, of course, says this is all false. "Why, they did have a phone call but nothing more." This photo says otherwise.

http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/images/2008/01/11/obama_odinga.jpg

Of course, now that bho is president, the domestic web has been purged of anything relating to odinga. Others remember. http://africanpress.wordpress.com/2008/08/10/senator-barack-obama-in-kenya-obama-and-odinga-the-true-story/

I won't label jeremiah wright a terrorist. Radical, yes. But his words are anything but supportive of this country. His sect is radical. The thinking and proponents behind black liberation "theory" are marxist. I condone neither, but ask the question in objectivity. What is the difference between damning America because "her sins have come home to roost", and proclaiming that America's recession (and by extension, her ills) are the result of gays?

By all accounts, Stanley Ann Dunham was a radical. The link is dead http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/chi-0703270151mar27,0,5157609.story?page=1 but I have an article by none less than the Chicago Tribune that says so. obama sr was a marxist. "Uncle Frank" was a communist. The associations with known communists, marxists, and terrorists are endless.

His latest czar (czars needs to be yet another thread) Van Jones (green jobs - hilarious) is a communist and a black nationalist terrorist.

I'm sure I've overlooked a few terrorists, but you get the point.

Isn't it the Right Wing are Nazis and the Left Wing are Commies.

Aren't those simply the Standard Insults?

As for the Birthers, its a conspiracy being fed by B.O. himself. All he'd have to do is allow the release of his long form Birth Certificate from the State of Hawaii. Maybe also show the passport he used to go to Pakistan when he was in college. That's it.

Instead he has spent $1.3 Million to fight those two things from happening.

He's causing the Birthers to stick around instead of just burying the issue once and for all. Maybe is part of the play to label all people who question him or his decisions as "crazy birthers." but it would be very simple for the Birthers to be put to rest. We are a Nation of Proof and seeing Things for ourselves. Heck Congress actually investigated John McCain's birth records and established that he was eligible to serve. But never did with B.O. that is something the Birthers question as well.

Dino, you make a good point again. If he's feeding into it, it's working...the right wingers who are screaming and clamoring that he's not a citizen really DO look like kooks, and it works towards discrediting all conservatives and moderates...

The only "N" word we should ever need is NObama. Or, NO-Nationalized Healthcare.

And I call those commies, socialists all day long.

NOBAMA!!

Isn't it the Right Wing are Nazis and the Left Wing are Commies.

The nazis were leftists - the "national socialist workers party". Uncle Joe, noting the socialist landscape in Europe, and seeking to differentiate his regime from the "others", decreed that all socialist regimes other that the soviets were "fascists". So, ignoring that the regimes of franco, mussilini, hitler, and others were died in the wool socialist, Uncle Joe's stooges in American academia ran with the "fascist" moniker. And eventually that moniker morphed from left to right, because if the sovs are the left, and if Uncle Joe says fascists are the bad guys, then they must be on the right. Right?

Aren't those simply the Standard Insults?.

Yes they are. That is the point of the thread. The words have meaning. They become embedded in belief systems. If you interview a thousand people on the street and ask them what the nazis were, you'd get unanimous "they're fascist" because that's what they were taught in "school".

"Birthers" are "bad people". "Socialist" = the "N word". People that don't like socialism are racist.

As for the Birthers, its a conspiracy being fed by B.O. himself. All he'd have to do is allow the release of his long form Birth Certificate from the State of Hawaii. Maybe also show the passport he used to go to Pakistan when he was in college. That's it.

You are so right. Why is the money and political capital being spent on this ridiculous matter, if it is indeed a ridiculous matter. Unfortunately, a group of people are being labeled "birthers" and being marginalized because they dare to ask the constitutionally important question - "is he a citizen?". Standard socialist operating procedure - never answer a question. Destroy the questioner.

Yep. Complete double standard. Anyone hear about the guy in North Carolina that was selling Anti-Obama stuff at the mall? He was told political satire was to be left out of the mall. When he responded that in certain stores there was pro Obama and Anti Bush merchandise the mall responded that his stuff was racist and would not renew his lease.

+1000000000000. The state of Hawaii says he was born in Honolulu. Legally that means he was, end of story. He has produced a birth certificate. It's basically the same one any of us would get from the state where we were born. It's good enough for the DMV, the IRS, the State Department, Little League and school enrollment when we were kids, etc. The birfers wouldn't accept any amount of proof. Not even a videotape of the birth, with Obama's mom holding up a newspaper, a TV in the background showing a Honolulu station, a window behind the bed with a palm tree and volcano visible, and R. Kelly peeing on a 15 year old girl holding her drivers' license to prove she's underage.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the birfers are really Obama supporters because as you said, it creates a convenient strawman and allows the Kool-Aid drinkers to caricature anyone who disagrees with them. :banging:

As far as another popular birfer talking point goes, there was no Pakistan travel ban in 1981--if you check the NYT archives there's even an article in the Travel section about Lahore.

Exactly. A couple of days after Nancy Pelosi's remarks about swastika carrying town hall protesters, a man (african american at that) was seen holding a portrait of Obama with a Hitler mustache outside one of the town hall meetings. Coincidence ? You be the judge. All I'm saying is, ya gotta watch these libs.....they're sneaky bastages.
