Coverage looks good....I am excited to see Burnett getting the punts...most reports from camp made it sound like he was out of the mix on catching punts.....the fumble was a disappointment obviously, but he is getting positive yardage and not dancing too much which is encouraging.

I have not read any post on this thread so if this is a repeat forgive me but as I have stated all along Dixon will not be a Wildcat QB and he is showing it tonight, he is making great plays with his arm and not his legs. I think this Kid will be a great QB and it is showing tonight.

And man I really like Redman I see him being the goal line and short yardage back. This kid is going to be special can see it now.

I love Redman in short yardage but im not impress with his regular running,I dont see him getting anything more than short yardage duties

After spending last season watching them settle for one FG after another after having 1st and goal inside the 5, I'll take it.

+1 on that!

Nothing boiled my ass like getting stuffed on the goal line last season. Maybe we can put together some Steelers smashmouth football this year, especially on the offensive side.

Stupid Palko...he used to make me nuts watching him in College.

Oh God - I used to watch Palko with Pitt and I swear to God he needs to be on valium or something. He's always looks and acts like he's on a caffeine high. :willy:

I'm pretty sure that at team that lost every preseason game has never won the Super Bowl that same year.

I'll take a win...if for that One Fact over every other reason.the colts mightve a few years back. not sure but they always suck during pre-season.

on the flipside is the detroit lions who i think were the only team to go undefeated last season in the games that dont count.

That 3rd one could say a lot about the team.

now i'm just curious about who's gonna be the backup, batch or dixon. i'm guessing batch will be just because dixon's still so young, but based on tonight i wouldn't be that shocked if dixon beats out batchy for the second spot.

i knew from his oregon days that he had an arm, he just needs to clamp down his decision making skills. also i think sometimes he lofts the ball a little too much on short passes, that can work in college but it won't cut it in the nfl, the corners are too fast so if he's going short he really needs to laser it in there..he has the arm strength to do that though. also he tends to go deep a lot, which can be good, but i feel like he goes deep even if it's a low percentage pass (i.e. into coverage near a safety), tonight it didn't bite him in the ass against 3rd stringers but it will in the future if he keeps it up.

lot of raw talent though, could be great if he develops properly.

The only thing I saw with Dixon tonight that was a consistent negative, is that he wasn't familiar with the speed of the pro game. He under threw passes. Had he put some of those passes out there further and let the players run to them, he would have been great.

But without any game time last year, and probably no time under center with the first or second string (or very little), you really have to expect that from him.

Dixon was awesome, he made some great throws- Timmons stunk up the place. He was pathetic trying to stop the run.
Whiff whiif whiff whiff - Woods outplayed him by a mile.

Let's give him a couple more games before you send out the mob, Killer. I'm sure they will look at film and it will be addressed.

I replayed every down he played - backwards and forwards - a dozen times - he was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Horrible. He's still got a lot to learn, he has no nose for the RB. Whiff whiff whiff.

I don't think he trusts his instincts yet. After all, he's just 23 years old - a lot of players are rookies or 2nd-year players just out of college at that age. I realize that there were concerns about his run-stopping ability, but I believe that he'll get better. He has too much friggin talent NOT to. Plus, I doubt very seriously that Dick LeBeau will stand for that for very long before he starts getting in his ear, not to mention Harrison and Farrior, the latter who praised him last week in an interview.

I want him to do good - for the sake of our defense. He better get better stuffing the run in a hurry, the Titans will eat him alive if he keeps playing like that.

Yep - that was the best of the best.

Cards pass rush had zero sacks against a makeshift O line without 2 starters, they did OK too.

As is the case every friggin preseason, this O Line worries this crap outta me. Whats even more sadder is that even by game 7 of the regular season, they probably wont look any better than last night.

Starks just got crossed up with a juke move last night by the end and made to look like a fool and there were very little seams or lanes for backs to even run thru. I wanna see Capizzi run with the first unit by game 3 of pre-season. Im not likin what im seeing so far up front.

Funny how people see things different...

I saw Starks get so much drive on a guy that he ended up about 8 yards upfield on a run play. I was VERY impressed. I also noticed that Ben had about 3 seconds or more on almost every pass play. that is a definite improvement, and this line wasn't our starting line either.

Was I happy with the line? No. Very few holes were opened up in the run game. However, I do think they have advanced on pass protection... and that is going to be VERAY important this year.
