Aaron Smith.....That is the one player we can not have out of the lineup. He is the most underrated player in the NFL IMO.

Ward for being the most physical receiver in the game, Ben for being the QB we've waited 20 years for, and Harrison for never giving up, despite all the times we cut him.

To hard to choose..........

But if a gun was to my head it would be Hines. Nobody epitomizes Steeler football like Hines.

Too hard to pick just one...Troy, Harrison, Hines, Ben, Reed, Farrior, Clark, Woodley......we have quite a strong cast of characters! I love them all....moooooooowah!

HInes Ward #1
I would take 3 Hines wards over any 3 receivers in the NFL.
He never gives up on plays (Randy Moss), Doesn't drop the easy ones (T.O.) and he doesn't have an ego bigger that his stats (Ocho-sinco).
He is so good they have to make up rules to slow him down and he is so physical you pop him in the mouth with your best shot and he bounces up off the turf smiling.

Honestly, there is NO way I could pick just one favorite.

So here's my list of favorites.

#1 Roethlisberger
#1 Hines
#1 Troy
#1 Harrison
#1 Woodley
#1 Farrior

EDIT:
#1 Heath :chuckle:

Troy

Quiet and humble off the field and a BEAST on the field

Offensive Coordinators have to adjust their whole scheme just to account for him

(Hines is a VERY close second)

1) Harrison - just an all round playmaking god.
2) Ward - tough, reliable, always plays 100%, hits like a LB.
3) Smith - Legend, great allrounder for a 3-4 DE. Doesn't get the credit he deserves, not that has ever seemed to bother him. He knows he is loved by his fans.

Can't pick just one, that's for sure...top 5 though would be Troy, Farrior, Harrison, Miller and Ben. Hines and Jeff Reed get honorable mentions lol. Heck, I love the whole defense, they get another honorable mention!

Oh it's too hard to choose. Let's see, here. So many of them are great.

Ike Taylor
Troy Polamalu
Aaron Smith
Lamarr Woodley
Ben Roethlisberger
James Harrison
Hines Ward

If I had to choose one, I guess it would be Troy Polamalu. Not only is he the best safety in the league, he is a guy with great character off the field. He is a just a great guy all around.

This is about the 300th thread we've had on this same topic since I joined the board 3 years ago. :banging: I'll let this one go, but please - in the future - do a search to see if there is an existing thread on the same topic. Thanks.

I have 3 faves in no particular order . . . .

Heath Miller. Totally underrated in the league and not used nearly enough in the offense. Miller should be catching 7-10 balls a game and moving the chains. But it will never happen unfortunately.

Actually, Since we've had Miller, we've been using the TE more as an offensive weapon than just a blocker. More than most teams, and more than the Steelers really had in the past, that's fer sure. That reminds me, I need to update my list of favorite current Steelers. :chuckle:

Call me a homer, but I love all of them...If I was forced to make a choice I would have to say Heath Miller, he is like the unsung hero of the offense. I love his attitude and work ethic, he is a class act on and off of the field.

I can't pick one favorite, but if absolutely had to, it would be Big Ben. Let's face it, in the modern era of Steelers history there are two major time periods: Before Roethlisberger and After Roethlisberger. For years all we needed was a QB who would play smart and not piss away our chances. With Ben, not only did we get just that, but got a guy who will likely go down as the GREATEST play extending QB in the history of the NFL. He's what brings it all together. He's what was missing for all of those years. Without him, more than any other one player, we don't have 6 Lombardi Trophies.

i'd have to go with Troy Polamalu. for the simple reason is an amazing athlete and he's a great human being off the field. he's someone you would want your kids to look up to and idolize. he's someone you'd want to pattern your lifestyle after. he's a great presence on the field and he seems to be the type of person that has genuine love for the game and he knows how to leave it on the field. a few more stellar years and he's Canton bound for sure.

i really like Hines Ward too. he's got great poise and he's a receiver that most receiver wish they could be like. consitant and all around hard nosed. you got to love that.

I know this question is off-topic, but you're post inspired it. First of all, does Bill Cowher get in the HOF, and if he does, is it because of the drafting of BB and the Super Bowl win that followed it. Also, if BB is the lightning rod that puts Bill over the top, does that make it easier for Ben to get in? Sorry for the off-topic question guys.. I can repose this in another thread if ya want.

Ward for being the most physical receiver in the game, Ben for being the QB we've waited 20 years for, and Harrison for never giving up, despite all the times we cut him.

definitely one mean, nasty, and determined SOB who'd fit-in on the teams of the '70s with no problems:

never-give-up attitude & work-ethic epitomize what we all think of when the word 'STEELER' is mentioned

Have to go with Ben. He could be a Vick Style scrambler if he wanted to, but he just isn't. His ability to break tackles is phenomenal. He wins; that's all he cares about. If there's one second left on the clock and the Steelers down, with one Steeler in the endzone surrounded by 5 or 6 defenders, he wouldn't think for one second about if an INT would hurt his chances of going to the Pro Bowl or whatever. He's heave that thing into the endzone, for the slightest chance that it could win the game. I also take a liking to him because he is maybe the most unappreciated superstar that Pittsburgh has ever seen. As Mark Madden says, "He is about as underappreciated as a 2x Super Bowl winning QB could be."

I have to say the 2 people that create Wins for our Team.

Ben on Offense. he wins us games.

Troy on Defense. he wins us games.

When Troy is hurt, we suffer big time on defense (yes I know, others are important too, but the year Troy had his down year, we suffered) and when Ben is hurt, we find a way to win for a limited time but when Ben is out for a while or Faceplants a car, we Suffer.

So, since Rings mean the most to me, and Winners mean the most to Rings...Ben and Troy.

I own 4 jersey's. Bradshaw, Mean Joe Greene, Bettis and Troy. My daughter has Bettis and Ben.

And there we are.
