View Full Version : Favorite Head Coach In The League(Other Than Mike Tomlin)

08-19-2009, 07:49 PM
This inspired by the Ratbird homer that come over here just to ask us which Raven's player we liked the most. I figured since some of us aren't complete homers(until game day of course, then all bets are off). Id see what yall thought about other teams head coaches.

And notice I said other than Mike Tomlin! :chuckle:

We all like Tomlin, a lot. No doubt about that! But I wanna put the homer thing aside and see which coach from another team yall like the most.

Personally I like Mike Singletary, I think the 49ers were smart to make him the HC.

i really like Andy Reid. granted, he's a bit of a tool. but i really like the Eagles and he's been through a lot of negative press in recent years and i feel bad for him. my vote isn't out of pity, i think he's a solid coach. i see him retiring with the Eagles and possibly making the Hall...but that's a long shot.

so, my vote goes to the Eagles Peter Griffin. haha!

I mostly repect Jeff Fischer, but I also like John Fox, Tom Coughlin, Dick Jauron, Ken Whisenhunt and Sean Payton.

Fisher is a great coach too. i'll agree with you on that one. Coughlin was my first pick, but Reid fit the bill for me.

Tom Cable of course...what says great Head Coach more than fighting your assistants

toss up between ken whiz and jon gruden (even though gru-dog is no longer 'in the league').

08-19-2009, 08:24 PM
I really like Sean Payton and I respect Andy Reid a lot. I also respect John Harbaugh (though I'm definitely not fond of his team) and I, too, believe that Mike Singletary is going to be an excellent NFL HC with the Niners.

Loved Gruden and Dungy and as a blast from the past, though I never could stomach the Cryboys, I respected and admired Tom Landry.

.....other than Mike Tomlin ?

**crickets chirping**

:noidea: ok...i'm stuck

Another vote for Singletary here. I like his mentality - we'll see if it translates this season for the niners

08-19-2009, 10:13 PM
I've got to say Singletary far and away. Especially since the Niners are the "second" team I kind of root for out here. But the guy's just a badass who is making the best of a shite state of affairs.

I liked Fisher until he made his comments last year about his player's behavior towards the towel.

I would have to say John Fox and Singletary.

Whiz and Mike Smith for turning around a mindset.

What? No votes for Belichick? :noidea:

08-20-2009, 11:23 AM
Bill Belichick. He'll make the HOF with a pre-cheating record of 41-55 and one playoff appearance, losing to the Steelers in the Divisional Rd 29-9...ironically, his only legitimate playoff win in his entire career was that same year when he beat the Patriots 20-13.

08-20-2009, 11:24 AM
OK, OK, I'll change my vote to Belichick, but only because I'm afraid that if no one voted for him, Goodell would find out and award the Patriots an extra draft pick.

Singletary...because he understands its a game based upon Violence.

"We go out and we hit people in the mouth"

yes...I like that.

Of course you have some people like Tom Cable that take that statement a little to literally. :chuckle:

Singletary and Sean Payton

08-20-2009, 04:57 PM
I mostly repect Jeff Fischer, but I also like John Fox, Tom Coughlin, Dick Jauron, Ken Whisenhunt and Sean Payton.

Jauron is a puscake. I'll say Singletary too. Haha, i know all of us Steelers fans picking him sound like homers voting for a HC with a Steeler-type mentality, but it is what it is. Somehow, he doesnt seem like a psychopathic-hardass coach, but just a tough guy with a vision. I really dont see how the 49ers get worse with this guy.

08-20-2009, 06:20 PM
Singletary, he knows how to play the game the right way.

I also like Sean Payton.

08-20-2009, 08:17 PM
It was Dungy.

Hard to say now.

08-21-2009, 10:45 AM
I have always kinda like Jeff Fisher as well even thouigh the whole towel thing soured me a bit... still think he is a good coach who does things the right way...

08-21-2009, 11:00 AM
i have always liked Joe Gibbs. but if i had to pick one that is active, i am going with jim mora jr. i think he got the shaft in atlanta.

Coaches I like:

AFC East = No one.
AFC North = No one.
AFC South = Jeff Fisher
AFC West = No one.

NFC East = No one.
NFC North = Lovie Smith
NFC South = Sean Payton
NFC West = No one.

Wow, that's just sad. My favorite of those 3 would have to be Fisher.

08-21-2009, 11:51 PM
coaches i like are Raheem Morris in Tampa and Whiz

The Duke
08-23-2009, 09:32 AM
Sparano, Singletery and Raheem Morris

they are all just beggining their head coaching careers, but I think they'll all do a good job

08-23-2009, 10:37 AM
Dennis Green. He is who we thought he was

Steel Head
08-23-2009, 01:14 PM
Singletary for me as well
