On Sept 1st we have to trim the roster down to 75 players. We currently have 80 men on the roster.
http://news.steelers.com/team/player/

Who are your first 5 cuts from the team?

I have to go with:

1) WR Dallas Baker
2) RB Justin Vincent
3) DT Steve McLendon
4) LB Andre Schantz
5) K Pietr Czech

he's definitely not getting cut with the first cuts

I'll give you the height mismatch on the TD. But he got beat several other times , too

And it's the coughing up of the ball that I think will get him cut

Maybe not in the first round--I think he's is destined for the Practice Squad ( for now, anyway)

I have no hate for the guy ---I actually want him to make it...

i know who is first to go, and it is schantz. after further review, he looked like he was on roller skates out there. i saw him just standing there confused on a play or 2.

mclendon? DL #69? aint gonna cut it either. the 4th quarter DL of hood, paxson, and harris looked pretty damn formidable. take out pax and put in mclendon was when the redskins were able to move the ball.

richardson doesnt get cut. he's a thumper.

i forgot alex steponovich was even on the team. cut him.

cut a wr (probably that shrimp williams) and maybe tyler grisham. or nance or baker.....

too many wr's (i think 2 could get the early ax).

other than saving jeffs leg for the season we really dont need peter checker around much longer.

Ben Roethlisberger - because he is diva about injuries.

Willie Parker - because he sucks and is small

Larry Zierlein - it will give him time to direct his first feature film, "Debbie does the AFC North - except for Cincinnati where filming was ended early when Ocho Cinco objected because he feels he should be the only w*ore around the team.."

Bruce Arians - because he sucks.

Dan Rooney - because he is cheap and now an Obama-nite.

I think Grisham will be held onto and could be a PS candidate.

Injured Summers could be cut, [duck] if he isn't expected back in time to show something. I haven't heard the extent of his injury.

No way Reily gets cut early with Dixon injured.

Same for Stepanovich with Stapler down.

Cuts:

LB Andy shantz
DT McLendon
WR Williams
TE Sherrod
WR Black or K Czech

I was at camp on the 19th. They might keep the other kicker so Sepulveda has someone to play soccer with. Pretty much what they did almost all day.

Let's see...
i know who is first to go, and it is schantz. after further review, he looked like he was on roller skates out there. i saw him just standing there confused on a play or 2.

Agree

mclendon? DL #69? aint gonna cut it either. the 4th quarter DL of hood, paxson, and harris looked pretty damn formidable. take out pax and put in mclendon was when the redskins were able to move the ball.

good Possibility

richardson doesnt get cut. he's a thumper.

I'm waiting to see something. He seems like he's the last one to the tackle.

i forgot alex steponovich was even on the team. cut him.

Agree. He was brought in as insurance because of injuries to Hartwig and Stapleton. Legursky has done well enough to cut this guy.

cut a wr (probably that shrimp williams) and maybe tyler grisham. or nance or baker.....

too many wr's (i think 2 could get the early ax).

absolutely

other than saving jeffs leg for the season we really dont need peter checker around much longer

Again, I agree

I think Grisham will be held onto and could be a PS candidate.

Me too

Injured Summers could be cut, [duck] if he isn't expected back in time to show something. I haven't heard the extent of his injury.

A final decision cut, maybe to slide him to the PS.

No way Reily gets cut early with Dixon injured.

I would normally disagree because most teams cut a QB and kicker early as a courtesy to see if another team will pick them up. But as you said, "because of the injury".

Same for Stepanovich with Stapler down.

I think Legursky has proven himself a cheaper/effective backup.

Cuts:

LB Andy shantz
DT McLendon
WR Williams
TE Sherrod
WR Black or K Czech

Everyone that thinks Carey Davis is cut is fooling themselves. He was the number one FB throughout the preseason. You don't cut a guy when no one else unseats him in the preseason.

Parquet and Paxson may be cut also.

either McHugh or Sherrod is cut, but not both.

MOP... I agree... but also,
I think nantz is gone

Everyone that thinks Carey Davis is cut is fooling themselves. He was the number one FB throughout the preseason. You don't cut a guy when no one else unseats him in the preseason.

Parquet and Paxson may be cut also.

either McHugh or Sherrod is cut, but not both. oh he will get cut, but i think he may still have a year eligibility for the PS ???.... they only have to cut 5, so you might as well get rid of the guys that have ZERO chance of being with the team in any capacity.

i agree, carrey davis won't be cut, but i think bruce has a VERY good chance of being cut.
paxson won't get the axe on the first rd of cuts, i think they'll give him some playing time thursday. big snack, hoke, and paxson are the only NT on the roster, so if one of those to go down with an injury, they may end up calling paxton.

Too true. It is amazing how the FO brought in depth this year at WR. To think that they biggest battle for the WR is not the 3rd place, nor the 4th place, but the 5TH spot! Wow. I think we go with a vet for that spot.

It'll be 5 guys we never heard of.

This.

I don't think Czech will be among the first five, either. We'll probably save him for the last round of cuts, strictly as an insurance policy in case Reed gets hurt. He hasn't been bad.

True. That and the fact that we probably don't want him kicking next week either. Allow that ankle to fully heal

The first five are almost always fringe players and O-Linemen who are hard to notice given their fourth quarter playing time. Its always the second round of cuts where people like Dallas Baker and those guys get the ax.

I do agree that Parquet is going to get snipped.

Do you feel this because we have not had a passing touchdown in any of the three pre-season games?

Great point...Though he will be cut eventually. As of now I think the first 5 cuts are

1) WR Dallas Baker
2) RB Justin Vincent
3) DT Steve McLendon
4) LB Andre Schantz
5) OL Jeremy Parquet
