Steelers kicker Reed could sit vs. Bills because of sprained ankle

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH -- Steelers kicker Jeff Reed has a slightly sprained ankle and might not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.

Reed stepped in a hole late during training camp at Saint Vincent College but was able to kick last Saturday against the Washington Redskins. Reed hit on a 34-yard field-goal attempt but missed a 48-yarder.

If Reed isn't ready -- he's listed as questionable -- rookie Piotr Czech will kick. Czech made a 41-yard attempt against the Redskins.

Quarterback Dennis Dixon (shoulder), tight end Sean McHugh (knee) and right guard Darnell Stapleton (knee) won't play for the Steelers. McHugh had an arthroscopic surgery Wednesday and will be out about a month.

Questionable are wide receiver Santonio Holmes (back) and running backs Willie Parker (hamstring) and Frank Summers (groin).

Well, it's too bad we don't have Ochocinco to fill in for him, now isn't it?

C'mon Skippy, tell the truth here. You kicked a paper towel dispenser. :chuckle:

Better he sit out this game and heal up that ankle for the opener.

(I'd be more than willing to rub the soreness outta that ankle  :naughty:)

Well, there's reason #2 you bring in a camp body at EVERY position.

In the regular season Reed would just have to kick, but we can sit him and heal him now...

Can't we have just one injury update thread per week?

It's tiresome looking through all the same redundant reports every day.
