I was wondering if the folks here could throw up some names of players,in the past, who didn`t make the final 53 roster at Pittsburgh but went on to do good things at another team
It`s just that I can`t help but feel for the players who are fighting for their careers during this preseason
For those who do get cut I have just two words for you......James Harrison!.

1986 5th round draft choice of the Steelers:

Brent Jones TE Santa Clara

Man, I wish that they would have kept him around. Those 80's Steelers teams needed all the help that they could get.

I think there's a difference between a reject and someone they let move on because they didn't want to pay them the big bucks because they'd rather have a team than a handful of superstars.

For instance, Mike Vrabel is a good example of a reject as he was never given a chance to start because he simply wasn't seen as being as good as others already on the team.

Whereas Rod Woodson had a ton of success starting and playing for the Steelers, he just got too expensive to justify keeping around.

I don't think Rod was a reject. Reject to me means someone that was not one of the top tier players.

no way. a reject means you were REJECTED by the steelers FO, AKA cut, traded, released. if they are not on the steelers roster, they are all considered rejects :tt:

what about kevin greene? yancy thigpen do much after becoming a reject?

Sorry,I didn`t make it very clear,,,I meant more rookies who were not deamed good enough.
Thanks for your replies everyone.

James Harrison a couple of times ... but you said that made it big elsewhere, so never mind.
