Wonder how long it will be until Al Davis offers him a huge multi-year deal for being a Super Bowl one-hit wonder?

Giants Cut Super Bowl Hero David Tyree

The Giants have cut wide receiver David Tyree, whose incredible catch helped New York win Super Bowl 42 in 2008, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

"I talked to (assistant GM) Kevin Abrams this morning and he said it was a very tough decision for the team," Tyree's agent, Michael Clouser, told the Star-Ledger Saturday morning. "Like anyone else, it was a tough thing for David to hear.

"He's obviously disappointed, but we're confident someone else will see the value he brings on special teams and as a wide receiver. We'll see how things go here in the next few days."

The move was not unexpected, even by Tyree himself. Despite the losses of Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer, the Giants have a glut of wide receivers, including 2009 draft picks Hakeem Nicks (first round) and Ramses Barden (third round).

Furthermore, Tyree had to sit out the 2008 season with a knee injury, and he struggled with more injuries and dropped passes during training camp. Still, Tyree expressed gratitude for his time with the Giants earlier this week.

"What a joy it was to be a part of something so great from Day 1," Tyree, a 2003 sixth-round pick, said, according to the Star-Ledger. "My experience here has been nothing short of a dream. To be placed in team history and sports history, where do you go from here?

"But at the same time, my love for this game hasn't died out yet and I really feel I still have something great to add onto my career and legacy."

He made one catch and was injured after that. He got the ring and now he can tell stories by the fireplace.

Wonder if the Browns won't try to bring him in to pair him with Edwards...

He's known for one very lucky catch on one very lucky play. Other than that, he hasn't done anything in his career.

Yes, but he did it in the SB, which will probably be enough for Al Davis. After all, Davis gave a fat contract to Larry Brown after O'Donnell served up two INTs to him on a silver platter in SB XXX, and did the same for Desmond Howard after a couple of big kick returns in SB XXXI. Larry Brown did nothing of note before or after XXX, and Howard was a Heisman Trophy-winning bust of a WR for the entirety of his NFL career.

Yeah, true. Al Davis needs to be stripped of the Raiders ownership. He will never die, just get more senile.

Al is dead. His corpse is animated like in the Hall of Presidents in Disney World. Watch his lips. They open and close, but they don't form words.

The problem is.....no one knows who the man behind the curtain is.

You know things are bad when the team loses two of the three guys above you on the depth chart and you still get cut.
