View Full Version : Does anyone else agree that if our offense ever played to the level of our defense..?

we would be unbeatable? I mean seriously, our defense brings it every Sunday. Man, we would go 19-0 in my opinion if that happened!

Could you imagine us WITH a running game and our line actually blocking when Ben drops back? With all of our weapons? Ward? Holmes? Sweed? Parker? Mendy? Moore? Wallace? Logan? Miller? Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ben proved Thursday and last in year in the playoffs against S.D. that, given time, he is indeed a top 3 QB (well, he's that now, but you get what I mean).

This Offense CAN be explosive. It's up to Arians to use his weapons right...

Completely agree, we just don't have a dominating OL. And if we decide to pursue building such an OL, by the time we get one, chances are we'll be missing the other parts, losing them to age/injury/FA/etc. Its just too hard to build a perfect team in this era of the NFL. Pats went 18-0 before losing the Superbowl with just about the opposite of what we have now - one of the best offenses in the history of the NFL and a defense just good enough.

That being said, I'd rather have some squeeker wins and a few losses as long as we still bring home the Lombardi.

Would be good, but then again, I suppose there's a lot of teams wishing for that little tweak that would make them sound all around. :wink02: Guess that's what parity is all about.

In theory it would be nice, but we'd miss the excitement of close games.

If our offense was as good as our defense we'd be over the salary cap :)

Not this shit again. :coffee:

No team is "unbeatable". Imho, there have been times when our O HAS played to the level of our D and I don't believe we would have gotten into the playoffs last season or won another Super Bowl if they hadn't.

I think the offense, in particular, the offensive line, IS playing up to the level it's most capable of, and that produced some very fine PASS blocking last week. It's the weak link on the team, and they can only play up to their top level of ability, and I'm quite sure the effort is there.

As far as if the offense was ever as GOOD as the defense, that would mean we'd pretty much be #1 across the board for rushing D, passing D, scoring D, and ALL those same categories on offense, which will never happen for any team ever.

Yes, but even if our offense just played with more effort, we would be even more dominant!

This.

Otherwise, I agree, we'd be blowing people out all the time and going 14-2 or 15-1 every year.

But no team's been that dominant, ever. Even without the salary cap. Probably because it's just goddamn near impossible to assemble a team like that.

I would just settle for if we were # 1 offensively in ONE of these three categories: Passing, Running, a combination (total) of passing and running. If we could get #1 in ONE of those.... it would be all over for opponents....

Maybe, just maybe, the 70's Steelers were.

The '76 Defense has been rated the Greatest Defense EVER
At that time we had Webbie (arguably the best center ever), the rest of the Oline was killer, too. To that add Brad, Franco, Rocky (god, what I wouldn't give to see another Bleier), Swannie, Stallworth...

Even with all of that, we still struggled sometimes...
Any given Sunday...

And if Rosie O'Donnell ever lost a few hundred pounds and had a complete attitude change, then she would be a great catch!

I want the 05 running game back......specifically the ability to get positive yardage on 1st and 2nd downs and keep Ben out of those 3rd and longs

Ben becomes so much more beastly when the PA is working for him.

I really miss the ability to go on those time consuming drives late in the game to suck the life out of the other team

Except for the 1975-79 Steelers.
