ESPN reports that Byron has been benched for Josh Johnson against the Redskins.

Oh how they mighty have fallen.

There was a reason he was available when Batch went down with a busted collarbone in preseason last year....

Thing is, that although Lefty hasn't played up to the potential he showed as backup for us last year, the bucs 3 game skid isn't all his fault. When the defense doesn't tackle and Lefty is getting hit from every direction, the offense is bound to sputter.

Byron is being the scapegoat for a crappy team. After this year he will back where he belongs.

Yeah but he just didn't lose his starting job, he's THIRD on the depth chart now.

Nope, he's just not starting QB material. He proved that in Jacksonville. Excellent backup, though. Jake Plummer would still be drawing a paycheck from the NFL if he would've swallowed his pride long enough to realize he was the same way.

I really don't think Lefty is a starting quarterback in the league. He is a good back up and he proved that with us but he will probably be a free agent next year.

And hopefully, being a backup to Ben will start looking pretty good to him.

Please put him back at number 1 on the depth chart. The more he plays this year the higher draft compensation pick we get in the 2010 draft. At this rate he is falling to a 5th or 6th round pick. If this keeps up he will be worth the same as a Sean Mahan.

He has even been dropped to 3rd string now. A tad harsh. Come back here Lefty.

This mess isn't Lefty's fault!

The offensive line in Tampa is horrible. They aren't going to block for anyone.

The defense is just plain bad. The strength of the Buccs for years was their defense is right now they look like they have never played in a game before.

The defense is also killing the offense. The offense's strength is the run game. But when the defense gives up 14-21 points before halftime the Buccs have to abandon the run game and throw the ball.

Too bad, I've liked Byron since his days at Marshall.

Tampa really dont have any legit WRs. Antonio Bryant is the best that they have. Leftwich wanted to start and ya cant blame him for that but he was only brought into Tampa to be a scapegoat and ploy to make teams think that they didnt want Freeman.
