Mendy gets no yards without that offensive line tearing apart that 3-4 defense and getting the push! OL!!!

I'll give a shared one between 4 guys.
Big Ben - Give me him over anyone like I always say.
Mendenhall - great to see him finally do some good things on offense.
Kemo - Awesome game, he was an absolute monster.
Harrison - Silverback still should have had a number of holding penalties called in his favor and he still got 2 sacks.

Hm...could tomorrow finally be the day I wear my Mendenhall jersey? :applaudit::applaudit::noidea::noidea:

...or do I go with the throwback Harrison I was gonna wear?

It might be time to actually take the tags off the Mendy...

Split between Mendy and the O-line, especially Kemoeatu!

I'd say Mendy, OLine (especially Kemoeatu) and Big Ben. Honorable mention to Hines!!

JackHammer

Mendy for me. Kemo should have his own option in the poll too. I would've voted for him if he was.

O line. Absolutely.

Mendy was a product of that line today... only twice I think he was touched in the backfield... and both times he was brought down. However, I DO like his open field catching and running. THAT impressed me more than he is carries.

ANd yeah..I gotta give it to Arians too... GREAT called game.

O-LIne Run blocking was just down right scary...and it needed to be with that awful 4th

Gotta go with Mendehall. Now i know he couldnt have done it without the line but once he got past the line he made some place to get extra yards and did well in the passing game with recieving and had some nice blocks on blitz pick-up

Mende but the whole offense played great.

Mendenhall.

Ran with power and speed. Showed the vision the Parker lacks. He looked like a first round pick tonight.

the o-line is 5 people, not one.

quit being wishy washy and give the ball to mendenhall.

Mendenhall, duh. First time we've had a real rushing attack since 2005.

Not to take away the tremendous game that Mendy had, but he would've had nothing if it weren't for OL.

steelreserve

I don't mean any disrespect to the line, but I think it was equal parts them and Mendenhall. There were a number of plays -- mostly 4-6 yard runs -- where Mendenhall got positive yards because he fell or drove forward, and Parker most likely would've danced around and gotten stood up for no gain. We could run with confidence on third-and-1 and at the goal line, which we haven't been able to do for years. That alone would've killed two of our touchdown drives with Parker back there.

Yeah, the line did a good job, but the difference is that with Mendenhall back there, we turn that into consistent, drive-sustaining yardage. With Parker, when the line is blocking well, we get good total yardage but he's all over the map and not necessarily sustaining drives. When the line isn't blocking well, I don't think you need me to explain what happens.

So glad we finally found a real running back.

Mendenhall. Seized the opportunity & can now build upon tonight's performance.

It has to go to Mendenhall the kid needed a good game and he came out and gave us one. When he was hit he would take his legs and keep churning for extra yards. Great game mende.

Typical...in a loss, the coaches get blamed, and in a win, the players get all the credit.

Oh well...it is what it is, I guess....

O line.

10-05-2009, 08:26 AM
I say it's the O-line for this game. I haven't been that impressed with them for a long time now.

And tonight they get rewarded with a trip to MONDAY NIGHT RAW!!!!

i almost voted for arians just b/c he called just a great game..

but i voted other, b/c if it wasnt for kemo opening up those holes for mendy, mendy would have looked like a smaller version of parker, and getting stuffed.

Great game all around by our offense, but I think Mendenhall came out with something to prove. And he did a hell of a job!

Who gets your game ball?

:tt03: :tt03: :tt04: :tt04: :drink: :drink: :tt02: :tt02:

Mendenhall. I say this and I'm not a BA fan but he called a great game. Keep up the good work so we can realize why you keep your job. The running game, the O-line blowing people off the ball made BA's night a lot easier but it still is his best job so far.
Ben played well as usual.

If you rank the QBs this year by what they've done I think it goes like this:
1) Peyton Manning
2) Drew Brees
3) Ben

If you rate all around talent, completion percentage, toughness than we have a winner. And we all know who that winner is!!

Mendenhall easy...hopefully this is the end of the Willie Parker era.

No run game unless the OL plays well.

The whole offense. Everybody did their jobs at the very least, and there were star performances all around. Mendy's running and blitz pick ups. Ben being Ben. MM's dart to Heath. Heath. Hines being Hines. Kemo grading for a new Interstate. Wallace - what a find. Even Tone didn't stink the place up. As Dulac said - A.

IMO since the first half of the Titans game our OL has been playing at a high level. And they continue to improve week to week. It's great to see them really starting to gel as a great unit on this team.

I am going to give the game ball to Mendenhall, Ben, Arians and the OL. They all deserve game balls last night.

I voted the O' Line. I think Kemo had an oustanding performance as well as Arian's play calling though.I Hope Rashard continues running hard, he was great too !!

O-line.

Massive holes, cohesive play.

Anyone coulda ran thru those holes that the O-line produced. That said, I voted Mendy because he was the one who ran thru those holes.

Such a true statement that O-line opened up some holes and pass blocked very well. Dare I say that the o-line was not responsible for the Sacks that Ben had.

They get my Game Ball.

BB really deserves the ball, but he would give it to Mendy out of respect for his game play.

Game ball to Mendenhall for sure. Honorable mentions to Ward, Roethlisberger, O-Line, and Moore. BTW does anyone know the last time somebody threw a touchdown and caught a touchdown in the same game?

tmacsteelerfan

Mendy, but would of been hard to do without the O-Line and Roethlisberger doin what he does game in and game out

Im not taking anything away from the O-Line because they played very well.....but the reason mendenhall gets my game ball is because of the extra 2 or 3 yards he seemed to ALWAYS get after contact....he was always spinning around after getting hit to gain a few extra yards and that got us some first downs

Mendy played outta his mind, but I have to give some love to the O-line. That is the best I have seen them play as a unit in some time.

Does anyone know what kind of expectations we hold for Big Ben? He has a 300+ yard game with two TD's and no Int's and he's not even on the list to choose from. I'm not saying he should be the player of the game, just pointing out the excellence he has been for us and how we have come to expect it.

Dude, I'm telling you ... you don't need Jerome Bettis to get the extra couple yards by taking on the defender. That's what a NORMAL running back does. We've just forgotten what that looks like. Why else would people be getting so excited over a guy like Redman?

That's what I'm saying. Parker either cannot or will not finish his runs like a normal running back should. He would've gotten a lot less yards in that game.

Mendenhall deserves credit, but people should also know that you should EXPECT your running back to attack the holes like that. But since we've had a Parker-only offense for so long, we've come NOT to expect it. That post was more a dig at Parker than anything else.

Offensive line. NO BRAINER. Mendy and Ben shredded that Chargers defense, which is somewhat pedestrian, but still. I'm aware that Ben took 3 sacks, but come on, Mach 5 was mauling the Chargers front 7
