Did Carey Davis put his stamp on the running game?
Steelers Q&A with Ed Bouchette
Friday, October 09, 2009
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Question: Did Carey Davis put his stamp on the running game and solidify himself as the starting full/h-back when Mr. David "The Thumper!" Johnson returns?

Doc Holliday, Los Angeles

BOUCHETTE: Coordinator Bruce Arians said Thursday that when Johnson returns, he will go right back in there. They used offensive lineman Doug "Bronco" Legursky in that role last Sunday. I thought Davis did a nice job and you will see him back there at times because he can do more than block.

our running game didnt just get better this week just because of mendenhal. cary davis is a legit fullback and a threat in the passing game. he should keep the spot till the end of the year.

Davis did not impress me much last week he never has. Mendenhall had a great game and yes his full back did help him some but the credit goes up front with the line opening up the running lanes for him. He also didn't go down on the first contact he kept his legs a moving so Mendenhall deserves more credit then you are giving him.:wink02:

Got to agree with that. SD's defense has been riddled with injuries this year. I think it was a combination of Davis and Mendenhall hungry to show they belong, SD's weak injury laden defense, and the O-Line doing a good job on assignment blocking. Add those things together and you get a solid run performance out of the 2nd year kid. Who by the way I still consider a rookie because he didn't play a whole hell of a lot last year because of his injury.

No Carey Davis did not put his stamp on the running game last week.

Davis did OK, I thought. But that was kind of an afterthought in comparison with the way the line played and the way Mendenhall was attacking.

I also loved it when Legursky came in and just smashed that linebacker's face in at the goal line. That's something I wouldn't mind seeing more of in short yardage.

We ran all over San Diego last year. Their run D is ass.

What a silly article... it is the exact opposite of the davis hate I have seen here at times.

No, Davis didn't put his "Stamp" on the game. He came in, hit his assignments, preformed decently, and thus, did his job.

He did the exact same as last year.
