REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public this month.

REMINDER.... All cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

.... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222.
It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time.. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

It takes about 20 seconds.

Thanks for the reminder. I must say I'm gonna miss the calls I get in spanish especially though. No idea what they're trying to sell me.

I went to http://www.ftc.gov/donotcall before calling, as I remember getting this warning email a few times before. I'd never actually registered though, and this thread reminded me that I do get annoying calls about 3 times a week. Maybe this will finally stop them.

Thanks for the link. I DO think it is probably a good idea to sign up. I just hope you called the number on the website and not the one in this thread.

who knows what you may have just signed yourself up for ! :jawdrop:

Maybe I'm missing something, (and it wouldn't be the first time) but aren't they the same number?

Its also good for as long as you have the same phone #

Will My Registration Expire?

How long does my phone number stay registered?

Telephone numbers on the registry will only be removed when they are disconnected and reassigned, or when the consumer chooses to remove a number from the registry.

The number in this thread is actually the real number for the Do Not Call registry:

http://www.ftc.gov/donotcall

Although yeah, I could definitely see someone circulating a message like that and tricking people into signing up for some text message spam bullshit, or something like that.

I actually signed up on the "Do Not Call" registry months ago. I still think it's complete B$ that we have to now deal with people calling our cell phones as well. Countless people quit using house phones for the simple bother of solicitors now they release your cell phone numbers as well. It's ridiculous. I'd like to get the solicitors #s and call them at their house while their sitting down to eat dinner and spending time with family. *end rant*
