Disclaimers:
We all know progressives dislike Fox. Fine. Conservatives don't like left-sympathetic News organizations either. Fair and balanced.
It's clear that all news organizations are involved with commentary or there wouldn't be a flurry of candidate endorsements every four years.

Facts:
Pew Research found Fox to be the most balanced for political coverage in the last election cycle.
After Fox "fact-checked" a White House spokesperson on a Sunday morning show, the White House has come out and stated that it will no longer provide info to Fox because it is not a News organization. Beyond that, they encouraged Fox's colleagues and competitors to refuse to run any stories broken by Fox.

This is plainly and simply an ostracization of an organization that tends away from the current administration's point of view.

The writing from the Obama Administration is on the wall to the fourth estate: Agree with me or I'll damage you or attempt to do so. In a democratic republic based upon free flow of information, this is worse than censoring. This is an attempt to silence and wound your critics.

Every Republican administration swims in a sea of News organizations that oppose it and must learn to communicate to this hostile audience. Why not this one?

The last gang to do this was the Nixon White House.

Helen Thomas (UPI) and Jake Tapper (ABC) have personally taken on the administration and denounced this behavior. Where's the mainstream media outrage? This is clearly the most egregious attack on freedom of the press in years. That it is not being levied upon any other than Fox is simply a choice by the administration.

What say you?

How so? Because a few of us proclaim outrage on a sports forum? This won't backfire in their face because only conservatives have major issues with the current administration. The rest of the public seems to be sucking in what's put out on CNN/MSNBC etc...

Fox is #1 in ratings.
50% of their audience is dem.

I would like to think that 50% have brains and can see the lies by obongaa team. Not all of them are blind cheese eating sheep.

The only viewership that would possibly be outraged is Fox viewers...if they're Dems that are watching Fox...then they've already made their mind up that Fox is putting out real News. So, this won't likely backfire...there will be very little involved in this in all likelihood.

If you say so...............

Three days before Howard Kurtz talked with White House communications director Anita Dunn about the Obama administration's attacks on the Fox News Channel, a number of CNN contributors pointed out how this strategy is helping FNC's ratings while hurting Democrats.

Such was discussed on Thursday's "Situation Room" by a panel consisting of CNN's Gloria Berger, David Gergen, and John King, as well as Politico's Nia-Malika Henderson and Republican strategist Tony Blankley.

Makes you wonder why Kurtz on Sunday didn't ask Dunn about the following tremendously relevant conversation that happened on his own network a few days earlier

*****Update: New York Times media analyst Brian Stelter wrote about this strategy late Sunday evening...

"Instead of governing, the White House continues to be in campaign mode, and Fox News is the target of their attack mentality," Michael Clemente, the channel's senior vice president for news, said in a statement on Sunday. "Perhaps the energy would be better spent on the critical issues that voters are worried about."

Fox's senior vice president for programming, Bill Shine, says of the criticism from the White House, "Every time they do it, our ratings go up." Mr. Obama's first year is on track to be the Fox News Channel's highest rated.

One Fox executive said that the jabs by the White House could solidify the network's audience base and recalled that Mr. Ailes had remarked internally: "Don't pick a fight with people who like to fight." The executive asked not to be named while discussing internal conversations.

The latest Gallup poll on the subject found that conservatives outnumber liberals in every state - all 57. That number is growing. http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/52602 Could that be because liberals are more likely to murder their children?

Fox's audience is hands down the strongest on cable and viewership is the strongest for the so called conservative talk shows. While Fox News is anything but "conservative" (70% of the staff are donkeys, even Mr.O), by contrast to the MSM they seem more to the right (actually center). Attacking them will get a lot of folks pissed off.

bho's health sham is in a freefall and the donkeys are scrambling to get something, anything passed by whatever means "necessary". That has a lot of folks seriously pissed off.

49 donkeys in the house are from districts that went for McCain. 13 donkey senators are in the same situation. Me thinks that is where the backlash will be most noticeable.

The table is set for another 1994. What remains to be seen is if the elephants step up with another package like the Contract with America, and folks that can articulate the message.

Beating up on Fox is just going to erode bho's ratings further

I do believe reading in that UCLA report that even Fox News was slightly MORE left of the general populations views.

Oh heck yeah! But the problem for the "administration" is that Fox hasn't bent over for them as all the rest of the MSM. Fox even airs some views that run contrary to those of the "administration". There can be no peace in the land as long as there is any opposition to socialism. Off to the ovens with Fox.

That makes no sense.

Fox represents one of TWO right of center media outlets out of TWENTY. 10% of the major media isn't going to represent much pull no matter what the ratings/circulation...

Registered means nothing. Actual voting means everything.

Finally, Obama outspent McCain as much as 8-1 in key battleground states...MONEY wins elections, and not much else...

Public "school" and higher "education" have done their jobs well. People don't have the vaguest idea what is happening to them.

So where is the Administration's outrage over MSNBC's obvious bias? Oh...that's right, they agree with them so they are OK. Nevermind that no one is watching them.

I am trying to imagine the stories in the media if Bush were to do this very thing with MSNBC while he was in office. Can we say "uproar"?????
