I know most people wouldn't give two craps about stuff like this, but I do. I knew Brett Favre attracted crowds, but damn. According to NFL.com's "Gamebook" thing, the attendance for the game was 65,579, which broke both the regular season attendance (65,110 set in Week 1 vs. the Titans) and overall record (65,350 set in the AFC Championship Game last year). Like I said, stuff like this interests me so I thought I'd throw it out there.

No doubt Favre alone drove interest in this game. Now the Vikes being 6-0 and us having a 4-2 start made it the game of the week. But before the Vikes signed Favre prices on Stubhub for the game started in the $120's after they signed him those tickets went fast and you couldn't find anything less than $230 right up to game day.

I still can't believe that they built just a 65,000 seat stadium. They could have built a 90,000 seat stadium and still sold out every single game.

true. I remember reading a story on this board about why they built it smaller... maybe it was Tony that posted it?

i'd have thought with the long waiting list they could have easily put in 70k seats...they still can fill in some of that stupid open end....

That's cool. I knew Heinz Field sounded louder than usual from my television today.

I heard one of the radio guys, I can't recall who, say that there were a lot of Viking fans at the game.
Plus it's was a beautiful day. Plus we're going into our bye week, plus it was a good team we were playing, plus yes, Brett Favre. Add all that up and you get a huge crowd.
