I have seen several drafts showing us taking Best. I don't know why they have us a taking him we really don't need him.

Probably to replace Willie Parker, imo we don't need best, we rarely use willie, mewelde is a capable backup imo it would be a waste of a draft pick and a roster space.

I would be a little surprised if we took Best.
I haven't heard any grumblings about Earl Thomas coming out, I think he is a JR next year, but if he does thats a kid I would love to have.
A lot of people have Burnett matched with the Steelers. I think he could slid a little bit lower, maybe even into the 2nd, especially if Thomas does go into the draft.
But you never know.

Pretty good early mock

dunlap hasn't done shit this year, and has been tagged as lazy, i think he falls big time. clausen should be the first qb off the board. taylor mays, like dunlap is physically gifted but like dunlap hasn't done shit to justify an early pick.other than physical attributes

I have a feeling both will be combine warriors, and you know that always makes up for a down season.

Out of the top 6 5 are Defensive players and the 1 on O is a line man lol, if that happens its got to be one of the first if not the first time thats happened

49ers arent goin after a qb anymore. since that o-line and defense has improved both qbs play have improved....i can see the steelers drafting a RB but not in the first, i could see a 3rd or 4th but a 1st is kinda unreasonable cuz rashard, mewelde, and willie can all play

lafell and briscoe, over tate and shipley ? i think i'd take the speed and over the height. assumming tate comes out. i'm still on the fence with dunlap. he was great today against fsu, but disappears in games. then again i didn't see tyson jackson in the top 15 but there he was. i'd also have a hard time not putting berry in the top 6.

If Berry is still on the board at #14 I would be making a huge run to try and get him. He is great value at that spot.

I can also see Jacksonville trading down into the bottom of the first round to get their man TEBOW. I think it would be a commercial decision over a football decision.

Big effort this far out LLT - I am still trying to get my head around where a lot of players sit. Even strugglingto work out who the steelers might pick - let alone everyone else. Jeremy Beal is a name I havent heard of before.

I was expecting to see a few less WR's and a few more DE / OLB's. Briscoe has been dynamite lately and I expect him to climb as well. Arthur Jones may be a bit high considering he is out for the season.

Is there any way we can have the 1st round you have just given the 49ers. That would be my dream draft.

At 6'3 261 lbs, Beal will play OLB in the pros. As a Sooner DE, in 2008 Beal quietly made 61 tackles and 8.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss....In 2009 he has 58 tackles and 8 sacks. I think he will put up impressive combine numbers and work his way into the first round.

I had Jones ranked as the second best DT before his injury. I still think that he has enough of a resume that a good combine and pro-day showing will keep him in first round consideration. He had 51 tackles in 2007 and 60 in 2008 with 31.5 career tackles for losses entering this last year. Also take into consideration that his versatility as a 4-3 DT or a 3-4 DE will have teams that run both defenses interested.

I love Lafell...and wouldn't be surprised to see him climb up the boards and be the first WR drafted this next year. Brisco is a projection pick for me, but there is a chance, like Tate, that he doesnt come out until 2011. I would have NO problem with Jordan Shipley being drafted in the first round. He seems to be the love child of Wes Welker from the Patriots and Gonzales from the Colts.

With Weiss gone, you gotta think that Tate enteres the draft this year. He will be losing his front line...his QB..and would have to start with a new Coach. Yeah...he's gone.

It's going to be interesting in the next few month to watch for which underclassmen will leave school.

My guess is Eric Barry, Rolando McClain, and Golden Tate are gone.

Other real posibilities are Morgan Bennett, Major Wright, and Von Miller.

Yea Notre Dame lost Tate the moment they fired Weis, I think Tate was going back to school if they kept weis.

We seriously need to draft this guy to add some offensive line depth. Also, we'd never have to worry about him jumping the gun before the snap.

Steelers needs (my opinion): CB, ILB, DL, maybe OL but not as pressing. Safety not as much but I hope the steelers pounce on Berry or Mays if either one is available.

Sidenote: Sam Bradford might not leave for the NFL next year, I'm thinking he's going to think about returning given the fact that he was injured the junior year and he might not want to be injured for most of his final year in Oklahoma

Have you heard this or is this just your guess?

IMO, because he got hurt is exactly why he will go to the NFL. I think it could have opened his eyes and he may realize if he stays and gets hurt again, that paycheck may get smaller and smaller as he falls down the draft board.

I don't think the Browns have the personnel to run an effective 3-4 defense. I'd rather seem the switch to a 4-3...and let the D-line get the pressure for them...to help cover up the weaknesses of our linebacking corps. Move guys like Wimbley and Williams to a 4-3 DE...have Suh next to Rogers in the middle and have them go to town.

Cleveland will be picking after Tampa so Suh will be gone before Cleveland picks. See they should have rolled over and let us win last week.

I'd settle for Gerald McCoy. He'd line up nicely next to Rogers as well. For that matter, Terrance would be a real good pickup...play him at NT, move Rogers to LE...

Think we will get a shot at Haden or Berry?

It just depends on what pick we get and if they slide back enough......based on the early predictions and stuff my guess for now would be no to both. Alot of things can change though.

I think Haden will be the number 1 player on the steelers board that they can realistically land.

For that to happen it will need every stud to declare early to overload the top 15 with pure talent. If Eric Berry doesnt come out Hadens value skyrockets. If all the junior QB's go down the same path as Locker and stay then the value of Haden climbs again.

I am still sitting

1. Haden
2. McClain
3. BPA

i still think they'd have to lose all 3 to have a shot at either haden or McClain. take a look at the standings, and who might finish ahead of them...

# Tampa Bay (1-12)
# St. Louis (1-12)
# Detroit (2-11)
# Cleveland (2-11)
# Kansas City (3-10)
# Washington (4-9)
# Oakland (4-9)
# Buffalo (5-8)
# Denver - from Chicago (5-8)
# Seattle (5-8)
# San Francisco - from Carolina (5-8)
# Pittsburgh (6-7)
# Atlanta (6-7)
# Tennessee (6-7)
# Houston (6-7)
# San Francisco (6-7)

i can see denver or buffalo going after McClain and san fran going for haden. i think the deciding factors will be if OT like bruce campbell having great pro days and combines. Earl Thomas is returning so scratch him from the list.

Everytime I see an announcement like that I lose a little more hope that we can land Haden or McClain

Looked at several (maybe 15) mocks over the last few days, and only 2 have us taking a position other than OL or DB. That's good, I hope our front office feels the same way on draft day. I beleive in best player available but when the needs are glaring in two groups I think we have to take best DB or OL in the 1st. Only caveat, if Hampton is on the way out we should look at Cody from Bama.

The names I keep seeing are Joe Haden CB Florida (we'd have to move up for him), Taylor Mays S USC, Earl Thomas S Texas, Brian Buluga OT Iowa, Charles Brown OT USC, and Bruce Campbell OT Maryland

I think everyone that u listed is possible for us to pick(in the position that were going to select) this draft....The only one that I don't think would fall that far would be Haden....I think the Niners will use one of their two 1st round picks on him...I think if we want to trade up for him...other teams will be asking way too much in compensation!!!!...Other than that all the other guys are possibilities......I have no doubt that the Steelers are going select two guys who can contribute right away in the first 2 rounds.....whether it be safety, corner, d-line, o-line, or even linebacker!!!!! NEXT YEAR WILL BE OUR YEAR!!!!!! F*CK THE PATRIOTS & THE BENGALS!!!!! :pissed:THEY GAVE THOSE WINS AWAY BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO FACE US[THE STEELERS] IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!!

Last I knew, he was, but keep an eye on the Texas game. I've read a couple things he has said, and it seems he has left the door partly open if they win the NC.

I think the San Fransisco 49ers may draft Haden with one of their two picks and the Bears may draft Rolando McClain to replace Brian Urlacher...

I would still love Patrick Robinson, Kam Chancellor and Micah Johnson in he draft.

I totally agree w/ the Kam Chancellor pick...I think he can be a great addition to the Steelers defense....He's very raw.....he played a couple of positions before landing @ FS...where he did a pretty good job the last couple of years....the other positions were OLB and WR...
