Probably the most pissed I have heard Tomlin after a game since the Jacksonville playoff loss. So much so, that he has said in his own words that "Hell will be unleashed in December".

From what I know about Hell is that it is punishment, torment, very hot, and lonely?

I wonder what this means? Perhaps:

A focus on details

Every week becomes "Raiders, Browns, Green Bay, Baltimore, and Miami" week

A better pash rush unleashed

He's going to go pads during the week like other successful coaches have done

The Steelers will be hell for opponents from now on

Who knows.

I believe he means that the players will have hell unleashed on them in practice. And I hope they take it out on our next 5 opponents........and beyond.

agreed, that 4th &5 was the worst tackling i've seen all year long and not just steeler games i mean the whole nfl.Correct me if i'm wrong but there had to have been 6 or7 missed tackles on that reception alone. That was the play that lost the game.... hey tomlin bench somebody and make a point to the defense!!

yeah, that would be a good move. It seemed to work on Mendy and he's been money ever since.

Hell has already been unleashed - I've had to watch a team unprepared to play KC and the same arrogant play-calling that just led to another loss.

Talk is cheap - just do it.

i wonder what was unleashed in november. i guess football purgatory. atleast it felt like being in limbo.

in context, i think what tomlin was saying is that they are gonna unleash hell on other teams.

shoulda thought about that back in september. :tap:

i like that he is pissed though and not going to go down w/o a fight. hope it translates to the players.

Steelers' Tomlin: 'We will unleash hell here in December'
Tuesday, December 01, 2009
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

We hit the opening of the final month of 2009 with a promise from Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.

"We will unleash hell here in December because we have to. We won't go in a shell. We'll go into attack mode, because that's what's required."

Hell hath no fury like the Steelers scorned? The scorn has been heaped on them by the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens for the first three-game losing streak in the young Tomlin coaching era, and they seem to have no choice but to wreak some havoc this month or become the latest of their Super Bowl champions to fall on their faces.

They went 8-8 in 2006 and 9-7 in 1980, failing to make the playoffs in their most recent two chances at trying to win consecutive championships. As they head into their final five games with a 6-5 record, their thoughts have already turned to 2005 because they cling to the memory of the remarkable finish.

"We have to win out," defensive end Brett Keisel stated. "There's no other ifs, ands or buts. We have to win out in order for us to be playing in January."

The Steelers were 7-5 and on a three-game losing streak in 2005 needing victories in their final four games to make the playoffs. They did just that, squeaking into them as the sixth and final AFC seed. They won their next four in the postseason, all away from home, to claim Super Bowl XL, the first team to do so as a sixth seed.

Dare they dream that again?

Two of their losses in that three-game losing streak in 2005 coincidentally came against the Ravens and Bengals, who wound up winning the AFC North Division, just as it seems they are about to do again.

"We've been in that situation before and went in as a sixth seed and won," Keisel said. "We have a lot of veterans on this team who were around for that and, hopefully, we can lead this team to that again."

Just because it happened four years ago, though, means little as they head into their final five games. They have two creampuffs next up in Oakland at home Sunday and then a game in Cleveland the following Thursday night. After that, they play two at home against Green Bay and Baltimore before finishing up in Miami.

They are all winnable games for them and they likely will be favored to win each one. But, after their play in losses at Chicago, two to the Bengals and their dreadful outcome in Kansas City, they have shown that they also are a team that can lose to anyone. And all six victories were in doubt at some point in the fourth quarter -- yes, even against the Browns at home.

And their defense, which slipped from No. 1 last week to No. 3 today, has allowed leads to slip away in the fourth quarter in four losses.

"I'll tell you man, it's been happening, and we have to find a way to answer that and correct that,'' said safety Tyrone Carter. "If we don't, it's going to be a tough five games for us."

I will be at the Steelers game this weekend, and am looking forward to it. UNLEASH HELL, well this is what they must do,
Defensive coaches and players need to take repsonsibilty for the mental mistakes that are leading to the failures in the 4th quarter. There is no way an average offense should ever get close to a first down when they are 3rd and 22.
On offense , score more points. Make use of the players talents. scoring only 24 points in a game right now is not good enough. PUT TEAMS AWAY.
I would like to see a 50 burger put on the Raiders this weekend.

I agree with a previous poster on here, bench somebody on the D. A good place to start would be Wm. Gay. Play Lewis or Burnett, they sure as hell cant be any worse!!

If it were not for some block in the back penalties on the Ravens (that frankly didn't even help their return guy) that game would have never gone in to OT. They had two very big returns called back. To say they did a nice job is a joke....unless the new standard is just prevent a TD?

Our special teams will cost us another win yet this season....bank on it.

By the same token, we've had at least two taken to the house on us this season where a very obvious and blatant block in the back call was missed and not called.

I'm sorry, but to me this is lipservice.

Hell should've been unleashed when it mattered. Hell should've been unleashed against a 2-7 Chiefs team. Why wait until NOW to "unleash" hell? With the division now virtually out of reach and dropping several spots in the playoff race?

Hell should've been unleashed in a certain division game we lost at home no less weeks ago. It's a bit late to "unleash" hell now.
