Right tackle Max Starks is giving four of his Super Bowl tickets to a family involved in the mining tragedy in Sago, W.Va. Starks said Thursday he wanted to keep the matter private and was reluctant to speak about it, but he did admit it was a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to help out the family, which he did not identify. After receiving a letter requesting autographed gear, Starks consulted his mother, Elleanor, and decided to send the family four of his tickets. Each Steelers player is allotted 15 tickets for the big game. Starks will give the rest of his allotment to family and friends.

So what if they are? The intent of the gift was to "help" the family after their tragedy. Something tells me that coal miners probably don't have great benefits and life insurance policies, so the one thing this family could really use at a time like this is some cash.

I'm sure Starks thought about that possibility before he sent the tickets and was OK with it.

That is awesome! I love hearing "feel good" stories like this. The kid seems very level headed.

First things first: hats off to "mad MAX" truly a high class move from a classy man!!:nw: :nw:

Now for you a**hole If you had one single iota of class you would not have posted this! You are not a "steelermanic" and never will be. You should have made your name say what your true fellings really are "steelerhater". You are a true piece of :poop: To take a cheap shot at someone when they have undertaken such amagnificient gesture only goes to show what a lowlife you are. The best part of you ran down your mother's leg!!

Max is from good people, and he's not stupid. He knows the value of those tickets, and he probably has a pretty good idea that what is important to some people may not be as important to others.

I agree with 43FlyingHair. What difference does it make what they do with them. They know what they need and Starks understands that. God Bless Max Starks
